On Thursday, Housing and Livable Communities Secretary Juana Matias visited The Home for Little Wanderers’ Somerville Village program to learn more about its work supporting young people experiencing homelessness and housing instability.

The visit included a tour, conversations with residents and a meeting with program leadership about how The Home helps young adults build stability, independence and brighter futures.

HLC is grateful for partners like The Home for Little Wanderers as we continue working across the Healey-Driscoll Administration to strengthen housing supports for youth and young adults across Massachusetts.

Earlier this week, Undersecretary Danielle Bastarache joined residents, partners and elected officials in South Boston to celebrate the final phase of the Anne M. Lynch Homes at Old Colony redevelopment.

The ribbon-cutting marks the culmination of a 15-year effort to transform and preserve this public housing community, delivering safe, modern homes for residents while supporting good union jobs and workforce pathways.

The Commonwealth is proud to have supported this work across multiple phases and remains committed to partnering with federal, state and local leaders to invest in the future of public housing across Massachusetts.

The Phoenix at Curtis is the future of public housing.

Today in Worcester, Secretary Juana Matias joined residents, local leaders and partners to celebrate a redevelopment that is modern, accessible, sustainable, mixed-income and built with dignity at the center.

Nearly 75 years after the original Curtis Apartments were built, this community is beginning a new chapter and setting a national example for what public housing can be. Congratulations to Worcester Housing Authority.

Congratulations to Whitney Demetrius, HLC’s director of the Office of Fair Housing, on receiving the Citizens' Housing and Planning Association, Inc. CHAPA Policy Leadership Award at last night’s annual dinner.

As the first director of the office created by Gov. Maura Healey when she signed the Affordable Homes Act, Whitney is leading critical work to advance fair housing, expand opportunity and build stronger communities across Massachusetts.

Well deserved, Whitney!

Secretary Matias was on the road in Holyoke last week to tour new affordable homes for sale and to grant $1 million to organizations that fight housing discrimination statewide.

At South Holyoke Homes, a brand new neighborhood is being built on previously vacant city-owned lots surrounding Carlos Vega Park. Thank to city and state investment, the neighborhood will soon have 20 homes for purchase and 40 new apartments when completed.

At the Fair Housing and Civil Rights Conference, the Secretary awarded the first ever grants from the Fair Housing Trust Fund to 7 anti-discrimination organizations serving all corners of Massachusetts. As the federal government undermines fair housing rules and funding, the Healey-Driscoll Administration is expanding the state's fair housing resources through the Office of Fair Housing at HLC.
