Welcome back to campus!

New England’s colleges and universities are what make this region one of the great centers of learning in the world, and there’s nothing quite like the energy students bring back to its big cities and small towns every fall.

And to those of you moving into Greater Boston this week, please try your best not to get Storrowed!

Israel has lost a pioneer of science.

Prof. Ada Yonath, the first Israeli woman to win a Nobel Prize, passed away at 87.

Her groundbreaking research into the ribosome transformed our understanding of how cells produce proteins and helped advance the science behind antibiotics.

From the Weizmann Institute of Science to her postdoctoral research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to the forefront of global discovery, Yonath's work helped place Israeli science on the global stage and will continue to inspire generations.

May her memory be a blessing. 🕯️🇮🇱

Deputy Consul General Liron Finkelstein joined Pastor Cesar Depaz and his congregation at Iglesia Hispana de la Comunidad (Hispanic Community Church) last week for a screening of October Shadows, a documentary following survivors and bereaved families as they journey from trauma toward healing in the aftermath of October 7th.

Something powerful happens when Christians and Jews grieve together, drawn from the same well of faith. Together we bore witness to both the pain and the perseverance: families learning to set the table with an empty chair, and still finding reasons to go on.

Gracias a Pastor Cesar Depaz y a toda la congregación por su amistad y solidaridad. 🇮🇱

Deputy Consul General Liron Finkelstein sat down with students at Dartmouth Hillel this week to discuss the Consulate’s role across New England, ways we can collaborate, and the opportunities and challenges they face.

Being on campus, in the room, hearing directly from students is how real partnerships form and grow.

Thank you to Dartmouth Hillel for the warm welcome!

Across the Middle East, ancient Christian communities are shrinking. In Israel, Shadi Khalloul lives a different reality. 🇮🇱✝️

An Israeli Maronite Christian, Shadi founded Mechinat Kinneret, a gap year leadership program bringing young Christian and Jewish Israelis together to volunteer in agriculture, education, amongst many activities across the country in preparation to serve their country.

For Shadi, seeing Christians thrive in Israel makes the way his country is portrayed even more personal. He stands against antisemitism and the hatred directed at the country he proudly calls home.

Across the Middle East, some of the world’s oldest Christian communities are shrinking.

Decades of violence, persecution, social and demographic change have dramatically altered the region’s Christian presence.

Meanwhile, in Israel, the trend is positive: the Christian population has grown. 🇮🇱✝️

The numbers don't lie.
