Since 1979 LBFE Boston's mission has been to help relieve isolation and loneliness among low-income older Bostonians. By connecting residents of affordable & public housing with local college students, we facilitate lasting intergenerational friendships through weekly social, educational, creative, and technology programs. With hundreds of older adults and college students that connected over 275 times in dozens of senior housing buildings and senior centers across the city, these are memories that will last a lifetime.

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the generous team from Point32Health participated in a service project to assemble 100 care kits for older adults in LBFE Boston's programs.

Last Friday, the team from Point32Health joined LBFE Boston bright and early to deliver these kits to Cardinal Medeiros Center Day Shelter in the South End. Each kit contains tote bags, hats, gloves, hand warmers, and personal hygiene items.

We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our partners at Point32Health and their commitment to supporting older Bostonians experiencing housing insecurity.

✨ The holiday season has officially begun at LBFE Boston! ✨ Today our team began delivering 400 gifts to 44 program sites across Boston, Brookline, and Somerville.

Our holiday gift program is made possible by an incredibly generous sponsorship from AARP Massachusetts, and we can’t thank them enough for their support.

Also featured is over 600 holiday greeting cards from our outstanding community volunteers, and the incredible team from Executive Office of Health and Human Services Human Resources that that made over 400 handmade cards for older adults in our intergenerational programs.
