We are community activists fighting against budget cuts in public services; we are union activists fighting for living wage jobs and militant, democratic unions; we are people of all colors speaking out against racism and attacks on i

mmigrants, students organizing against tuition hikes and war, women and men fighting sexism and homophobia. We believe the Republicans and Democrats are both parties of big business, and we are campaigning to build an independent, alternative party of workers and young people to fight for the interests of the millions, not the millionaires. We see the global capitalist system as the root cause of the economic crisis, poverty, discrimination, war, and environmental destruction. As capitalism moves deeper into crisis, a new generation of workers and youth must join together to take the top 500 corporations into public ownership under democratic control to end the ruling elites' global competition for profits and power. We believe the dictatorships that existed in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe were perversions of what socialism is really about. We are for democratic socialism where ordinary people will have control over our daily lives. Socialist Alternative is also in political solidarity with the Committee for a Workers' International, a worldwide socialist organization in 37 countries, on every continent.

What happened to the rent control ballot question in Massachusetts? You won't see it on your ballots today—but not solely as a result of the state supreme court's rejection of its language on a technicality.

There are important lessons to be learned from the twists and turns of the ballot question initiative's trajectory. Tenant rights activists, socialists, and working people everywhere must recognize the strategic betrayal that took place, by the very proponents of the measure, in a conceding attempt to please the Democrats in power—who repeatedly blocked and watered down the proposal because they answer to the landlord lobby and big corporations.

Attempting to stay in the good graces of "lesser evil" politicians will get us nowhere. We need a new worker's party completely independent of the capitalist interests of the two-party system.

From Madison to Boston: END POLICE BRUTALITY!
Boston Socialist Alternative stand in solidarity with Madison Socialist Alternative , Black Caucus - Socialist Alt , and all those demanding JUSTICE FOR COREY RUIZ!

We Demand:
- Arrest killer cop Kiel Petersen!
- Democratic community control over the police, with the power to hire, fire, discipline, and allocate resources!
- Tax the rich and defund the Boston Police Department to fund public schools and social services!

The widespread anger bubbling up from yet another ex*****on of a black person at the hands of the police — including the organic shutting down of streets in Madison — shows the potential for building a powerful grassroots movement against racist police brutality, like the George Floyd Rebellion and global BLM movement we saw rise six years ago.

Through organized, working-class action like protests, occupations, and strikes, we can escalate the struggle and build a mass movement with the ability to win concrete demands — like full community control over policing — and fight for a society free of racist police brutality and state repression.

This Pride month, we can’t sit back as the far right strips away our rights. The general strike in Minneapolis on Jan. 23rd showed how working people can drive out ICE and beat back Trump. Since then, Trump has attacked Iran and demolished the Voting Rights Act, and more attacks are coming. We need to build off of the Battle of Minneapolis and prepare for a general strike to bring down Trump.

This weekend Socialist Alternative members in Boston were out at No Kings talking to folks about the nationwide day of No Work, No School, No Shopping on May 1 being called for by labor leaders. Just like how the workers of Minneapolis kicked out ICE with a general strike, we need industrial action to fight Trump. We urgently need to escalate the fight back, and withholding our labor is one of the most powerful tools available to working people.
