From March 2025 to May 2026, the Amplifying Impact Initiative poured direct, intentional investment into California’s healthcare providers, collaboratives, and workforce development. By centering community-led care, the initiative accelerated the integration of CHW/P/Rs into the state's health care system and expanded access to care for communities facing historical barriers.

Now, this critical work enters a new chapter led by the California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI). Together we are deepening organizational capacity, delivering specialized workforce support, and securing long-term targeted infrastructure needed for CHW/P/Rs to thrive.

According to recent reporting, by Julian Kim in NPR, participation in the program has fallen by more than 4 million people since mid-2025, even before some of the largest reforms take effect.
