MPA ENDORSES MIKE MINOGUE FOR GOVERNOR

The Massachusetts Police Association is proud to endorse Mike Minogue for Governor of Massachusetts

Mike is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, a decorated combat veteran, successful business leader, husband, and father. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated the leadership, discipline, and commitment to service needed to lead our Commonwealth.

As the longtime Chairman, President, and CEO of Abiomed, Mike helped grow a Massachusetts-based company into a global leader in cardiac care while creating jobs and expanding research and manufacturing here in the Commonwealth. His record shows that he understands how to build strong organizations, develop people, demand accountability, and deliver results.

Mike has made keeping our communities safe a central part of his Blueprint for Massachusetts. He understands that public safety begins with supporting the police officers who protect our cities and towns, holding dangerous offenders accountable, and giving law enforcement the resources necessary to do the job effectively.

At a time when Massachusetts needs steady leadership and a renewed commitment to accountability, affordability, opportunity, and safe communities, we believe Mike Minogue offers a new direction for the Commonwealth.

The Massachusetts Police Association proudly supports Mike Minogue and encourages our members, their families, and voters across Massachusetts to support him for Governor.

Sometimes, a simple act of kindness can mean the world to a child facing the fight of her life.

Many of you have seen the incredible support surrounding Mia Johnson, a young girl from Wareham who is courageously battling acute myeloid leukemia. Mia dreams of one day becoming a police officer, and law enforcement agencies from across the country have rallied behind her with messages of encouragement and support. (Boston 25 News)

Now, there’s another way we can all help.

A special patch collection project has been created for Mia, and police, fire, EMS, and public safety agencies are being asked to send a department patch that will become part of a keepsake reminding her that she has an entire community standing behind her. (Wareham)

If your agency is able, please consider participating. If you’re not part of a public safety agency, we’d appreciate you sharing this with one that is.

Every patch tells Mia the same thing:

You are not fighting alone.

How to donate instructions are inside the article.

A brave Wareham girl battling leukemia has one simple request: patches from everywhere. ❤️🧵 Here's how you can help brighten her days, one patch at a time.

The Massachusetts Police Association is proud to announce its endorsement of David Solet for Middlesex County District Attorney.

After careful consideration, the MPA Board of Directors voted to support David Solet based on his extensive experience in criminal prosecution, commitment to public safety, and longstanding partnership with law enforcement professionals throughout the Commonwealth.

David has dedicated his career to the pursuit of justice. He previously served as Chief of the Cold Case Homicide Unit for the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, where he worked alongside local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to solve some of the Commonwealth's most challenging cases. Throughout his career, he has prosecuted cases involving homicide, child exploitation, organized crime, narcotics trafficking, public corruption, and violent offenders. He has also served as Chief Legal Counsel for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and continues to serve our nation as an officer in the United States Army Reserve Judge Advocate General's Corps.

David has consistently demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges facing law enforcement and victims of crime. His campaign emphasizes strengthening investigations, addressing illegal gun trafficking, supporting victims, and ensuring the fair and effective administration of justice throughout Middlesex County.

The MPA looks forward to working with leaders who recognize the importance of supporting law enforcement while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, accountability, and public service.

During National Police Week 2026, we pause to honor the brave men and women in law enforcement who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. We remember those who gave their lives protecting others and recognize the families, friends, and fellow officers who continue to carry their memory every day.

Police work is more than a profession , it is a commitment to service, sacrifice, and standing between danger and the people we serve. Across this country, officers answer the call every day knowing the risks that come with wearing the badge.

This week, we honor the fallen, support those who continue to serve, and reaffirm our commitment to the values of courage, integrity, and duty.

We will never forget those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Massachusetts law enforcement community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of a Massachusetts State Police Trooper who was killed in a crash last night.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Trooper’s family, loved ones, friends, and the entire Massachusetts State Police family during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of an officer is felt far beyond one department, it impacts the entire public safety community across the Commonwealth.

Every day, law enforcement officers put on the uniform knowing the risks and dangers that come with serving others. Last night is a tragic reminder of the sacrifices made by those who dedicate their lives to protecting the public.

We stand with the Massachusetts State Police and all those grieving this tremendous loss. May the Trooper rest in peace, and may those left behind find strength and support in the days ahead.

The Massachusetts Police Association stands in strong support of Boston Police Officer Nicholas O’Malley.

Police officers are routinely required to make split-second decisions in dangerous, uncertain, and rapidly evolving situations. These decisions are made in real time, often in fractions of a second, under intense pressure and with the responsibility of protecting the public, their fellow officers, and themselves. These circumstances must be fully understood and fairly evaluated when reviewing an officer’s actions.

Like every citizen, Officer O’Malley is entitled to the full protections of our justice system, including the presumption of innocence and the fundamental right to due process. That process requires a thorough, deliberate, and impartial review of all facts and evidence before conclusions are drawn.

We are concerned with the speed at which charges were filed in this case. It is not typical for incidents of this complexity and magnitude particularly those involving use of force to be brought forward so quickly without the benefit of a comprehensive investigation. Rushed decisions risk undermining confidence in the fairness and integrity of the process.

The members of the Massachusetts Police Association understand the realities of modern policing and the weight of the decisions officers are called upon to make every day. Our members serve with professionalism and integrity, and they deserve a system that affords them the same fairness and careful consideration expected in any serious legal matter.

We stand in solidarity with Officer O’Malley, his family and the members of the Boston Police Department. The Massachusetts Police Association will continue to advocate for due process, fairness, and a measured approach that ensures justice is both done and seen to be done.

Our thoughts are with the Fall River police officers involved in Saturday night’s shooting. Moments like this remind us just how quickly a call can turn into a life-altering event, and how much officers across the commonwealth put on the line every single time they step into harm’s way.

We are incredibly thankful that they are safe. Their courage and unwavering commitment to one another was amazing. Behind the badge are families, loved ones, and fellow officers who carry the weight of incidents like this everyday. You are in our thoughts as well.

To the men and women of the Fall River Police Department, know that the Massachusetts Police Association stands with you. We support you, we appreciate you, and we are grateful for the sacrifices you make to protect your city. Stay safe and watch each other’s backs.

Fraternally,

Massachusetts Police Association

We are keeping the Millbury Police Officer who was shot in the line of duty and another non law enforcement victim firmly in our thoughts and prayers. This was a violent and senseless act, and our hearts are with the officer, their family, and the entire Spencer & Millbury Police Department during this challenging time. We are encouraged by reports of the officer’s condition and remain hopeful for a full recovery.

Law enforcement officers willingly place themselves in harm’s way to protect others, and moments like this remind us of the risks they face every day. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Spencer Police Department, Millbury Police Department and across the Commonwealth.
