The Boscobel Police Department would like to remind residents of the city to clear the snow and ice from sidewalks abutting their lot/property. There are many residents in the city who have mobility issues and are impacted by snow and ice covered sidewalks. We know it has been cold lately, but it's important that we are considerate of our neighbors, fellow community members, and visitors to the city.

The duty of snow and ice removal is outline in Boscobel Municipal Ordinance 8.06, which reads as follows:

The owner or occupant of an occupied or unoccupied lot abutting on a street shall keep
the sidewalk abutting thereon free from snow, ice, dirt or rubbish of any kind. Any snow falling
between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. shall be removed before the following 6 p.m. and all snow falling at
other times shall be removed within 12 hours after the same ceases to fall. If the owner or
occupant fails to remove the snow, ice or dirt or rubbish as provided herein, the same shall be
removed by the street department and the cost thereof assessed against the property, to be entered
in the tax roll and collected as other taxes are collected.

Be safe and stay warm out there!

The Boscobel Police Department proudly presents the "Years of Service Award" to Officer Katelyn Schaefer and Asst. Chief Sid Kirschbaum. This award was created to show appreciation to the officers who have shown their dedication to the Boscobel Community, through continuous years of service. Officer Schaefer received the 5-year award, but is actually on her 7th year with the department. Asst. Chief Kirschbaum is on his 11th year with BPD. This is a newly adopted award for the Boscobel Police Department, so going forward officers will be recognized at each 5-year milestone. If you see a BPD officer with a pin like those shown, each star represents 5-years of service with the Boscobel Police Department. Thank you for your service to our great community, Officer Schaefer and Assistant Chief Kirschbaum!! 🫡

Boscobel residents and visitors,

Alternate side parking season has arrived. It appears that we may see more snow this season than in recent winters. Boscobel officers have already issued a lot of alternate side parking tickets. We would prefer not to write any tickets for this issue, but the ordinance was created to allow the Street Department to effectively clear snow from our streets so drivers can safely travel in the city. The attached document should answer any questions you may have about how the city of Boscobel regulates alternate side parking. Remember, alternate side parking is enforced for 48-HOURS after a snow event of two or more inches of snow. Please review the attached document and contact us if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

Chief Travis Dregne

Public Notice

Please do not be alarmed on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2025, if you observe a large presence of police, fire, and EMS personnel in the area of Boscobel Schools.

This is a large-scale training exercise designed to challenge and improve the coordinated response plans of all agencies involved. The safety of our youth is something we take very seriously, and this training ensures that our first responders are well-prepared through effective planning, communication, and cooperation with our community partners.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
