As road conditions begin to deteriorate, follow all emergency management and public safety travel restrictions and guidance.

Limit travel. Stay off the roads unless it is essential. Crews are working to keep routes open for emergency response and plowing operations.

This storm is ongoing and conditions will continue to worsen through tonight and into tomorrow. The system has a long duration and impacts will increase as snowfall and winds intensify.

Stay home. Stay safe. Monitor official township updates.

Hey neighbors — just a quick, friendly reminder!

Please avoid using snowblowers to push snow back into streets that have already been plowed. When snow gets pushed back into the roadway, it creates icy spots and means our Public Works crews have to go back out and redo areas they already cleared.

A little extra care goes a long way in keeping roads safe for everyone — and helps our crews keep moving through the Township efficiently.

Thanks so much for doing your part and looking out for one another.

STATE EMERGENCY TRAFFIC ORDER IN EFFECT

A State of Emergency is in place across New Jersey ahead of the winter storm.

Beginning at 3:00 PM today, all interstates and state highways are reduced to 35 mph until further notice. This includes the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, and Atlantic City Expressway.

Commercial vehicle travel restrictions also begin at 3:00 PM on major highways including I-295, I-195, I-76, I-78, I-80, I-287, I-676, and Route 440.

Restricted vehicles include
• Tractor trailers
• Empty CDL-weight trucks
• Passenger vehicles pulling trailers
• RVs
• Motorcycles

Exemptions include public safety personnel, healthcare and critical infrastructure workers, and vehicles supporting fuel and food delivery.

Travel is strongly discouraged statewide Sunday and Monday. Road conditions will deteriorate rapidly and visibility will be poor at times. Expect limited roadway movement and significant delays.

If you must travel
• Slow down and use extreme caution
• Stay clear of plow and emergency vehicles
• Allow extra time
• Carry an emergency kit

Residents are urged to complete all travel and storm preparations before 3:00 PM today and remain off the roads once conditions worsen.

Follow official township and county channels for continued updates.

BLIZZARD WARNING AND STATE OF EMERGENCY

A Blizzard Warning is in effect for our area Sunday through Monday.

A State of Emergency begins Sunday at 12:00 PM in Bordentown Township.

Heavy snow and strong winds will create whiteout conditions and dangerous travel. Roads will become impassable Sunday night into Monday. Emergency services will face delays due to conditions.

Residents must prepare now.

• Avoid all non essential travel beginning Sunday afternoon
• Remove all vehicles from roadways before 12:00 PM Sunday
• No parking on township streets during the State of Emergency
• Expect road closures and limited visibility
• Prepare for possible power outages
• Charge phones and essential devices
• Check on elderly neighbors and those with special needs
• Keep fire hydrants near your home clear after the storm
• Use generators outdoors only and away from structures
• Call 911 for emergencies only

Peak storm conditions are expected Sunday night through Monday morning. Travel may become impossible during this time.

Public Works and emergency crews will operate throughout the storm as conditions allow. Continue to monitor official township communications for updates.
