SNOW RELATED ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The City is currently making all the necessary preparations to ensure roads and sidewalks are passable in light of the pending blizzard and the Governor's declared state of emergency. Please be aware of the following over the next few days and work together to help us make sure the city keeps moving:

- Bordentown City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has also declared a local state of emergency and urges residents to limit non-essential travel, monitor official City communications, and comply with all lawful directives issued pursuant to this emergency in order to protect public safety and facilitate emergency operations.

- NO parking restrictions have been posted along both sides of Farnsworth Ave, from Park St to Burlington St, and will remain in effect while the road is snow covered until Public Works is able to sufficiently clear the street. **Additional parking restrictions along other streets may be announced in the coming days so please check back for updates.**

- There will be no trash collection on both Monday AND Tuesday to free up resources to focus on snow removal.

- There will be NO recycling collection on Monday. The county has rescheduled recycling collection for Tuesday, Feb. 24. Please do NOT put receptacles at the curb before 6 am on Tuesday to allow for plows to continue working. Please help spread the word by SHARING with friends and neighbors.

- City offices will be closed on Monday.

- Reminder: Public-facing sidewalks are required to be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours of snowfall ending. City ordinance prohibits snow and ice from being deposited in city streets. If you are a tenant, and unsure if the snow is your responsibility, please consult your landlord or your lease. The city reserves the right to clear any sidewalks that have not been cleared within the requisite amount of time and pose a public safety hazard and may charge the property owner for related costs.

Want to STAY INFORMED? Text your zip code - 08505 - to 888777 to opt-in to Bordentown City's Nixle emergency messaging system and receive future text alerts about relevant public safety information from Bordentown City Police.

We thank everyone in advance for working together to keep the city safe and walkable for everyone. Please stay safe and warm!

Some helpful advice from the hardworking volunteers at Consolidated Fire Association!

Hey BTOWN: Keep your PSEG gas meter, regulator, and pipes clear of snow and ice using a broom or your hands to prevent blockages and potential damage. Do not use a shovel or sharp tools, and never bury the meter. Keep a clear, safe pathway for access.
We know we have a lot of people with new gas meters outside!! Let’s be aware to keep them clear of snow!! ❄️❄️❄️🪏🚨

SUNDAY SNOW UPDATE

🏢City offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 26, due to the ongoing storm.

REMINDERS:

🗑️ There will be no Monday trash collection.

♻️ Recycling collection has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 27. 🚨 Please do not put your recycling out until after 6 AM on Tuesday so the plows can do another pass on our streets.

🚒 Please avoid parking on emergency routes so that our plows can clear them thoroughly AND help clear snow from any fire hydrants located near your property.

🪏It is the responsibility of everyone with a public facing sidewalk to clear it within 24 hours of any snow or ice event in order to help keep our walkable community safe for everyone!

❄️ We appreciate everyone’s cooperation. Please stay safe and warm!

Buckle up Bordentown and stay safe! This one may linger around for awhile so please help us keep our streets and sidewalks safe and passable for everyone! ❄️❄️❄️❄️

To ensure roads are safely cleared and passable, the Department of Public Works will be fully dedicated to snow plowing operations. As a result:
- There will be NO trash collection on Monday, January 26th.
- There will be NO recycling pickup on Monday, January 26th.
- Recycling collection will be delayed by one day and will occur on Tuesday, January 27th. Please do NOT place recycling bins at the curb until after 6:00 AM on Tuesday, January 27th, to avoid interference with snow plowing operations

🧹 Sidewalk Snow Removal
Owners, tenants, or occupants of any property abutting a public sidewalk are required to remove all snow and ice from the entire length of the sidewalk within 24 hours after snowfall or ice accumulation.

🚗 Street Parking
Please avoid parking on designated snow emergency routes or streets during plowing operations to allow crews to work efficiently and keep roadways safe.

🔥 Fire Hydrants
Residents are reminded to keep fire hydrants on or near their property clear, visible, and accessible at all times.

🧊 Placement of Snow & Ice
Snow and ice may not be placed on streets, roads, sidewalks, municipal rights-of-way, or neighboring properties without permission. Snow must not obstruct pedestrian or vehicle traffic, block driveways, or cover fire hydrants. If snow must be temporarily moved into the street during driveway clearing, it must be immediately returned to the property from which it was removed.

⚠️ City Removal & Costs
If snow and ice are not removed in compliance with City ordinances, the City may arrange for removal. Any associated costs may be billed to the property owner and, if unpaid, added to the next tax levy in accordance with City regulations.

💸 Violations & Penalties
Failure to comply may result in fines ranging from $50 to $250 per day, plus court costs, for each day the violation continues after the 24-hour period.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work together to keep Bordentown City safe and accessible during winter weather. Please stay safe and plan accordingly! ❄️
