🚨 Inspection Division Safety Reminder 🚨

When the power goes out during an emergency, properly functioning emergency lighting helps occupants safely find exits and evacuate a building.

According to the Indiana Fire Code and NFPA 101: Life Safety Code, emergency lighting systems are required in many commercial, educational, healthcare, assembly, and multi-family residential occupancies. These systems must be maintained in proper working order and tested regularly.

Emergency lighting should:
✔ Illuminate exit paths during power failures
✔ Activate automatically when normal power is lost
✔ Remain unobstructed and clearly visible
✔ Be inspected and tested on a regular schedule
✔ Have batteries and components maintained according to manufacturer requirements

⚠️ Non-functioning emergency lights can delay evacuation, increase panic, and place occupants and first responders at greater risk during fires and other emergencies.

Building owners and managers should routinely verify that:
• Emergency lights operate when tested
• Exit signs remain illuminated and visible
• Batteries are functional and properly maintained
• Testing and maintenance records are documented

A few minutes spent inspecting emergency lighting today can make a critical difference during an emergency tomorrow.

The Warrick County Emergency Management Agency and Warrick County Health Department would like to sincerely thank all Warrick County residents who stopped by to receive a NOAA Weather Radio. We are proud to help our community become more prepared and resilient during severe weather and emergencies.

At this time, our current supply of NOAA Weather Radios has been exhausted, and we are officially OUT OF STOCK.

Please know that we are actively working to secure additional funding and resources to offer another distribution program. We understand the importance of receiving timely weather alerts and remain committed to enhancing preparedness across Warrick County.

In the meantime, we encourage all residents to ensure they have multiple ways to receive emergency notifications, including:
✅ Wireless Emergency Alerts on your cell phone
✅ Local television and radio stations
✅ Trusted weather apps
✅ Community notification systems
✅ NOAA Weather Radios (if you already have one)

Now is also a great time to review your family's severe weather emergency plan and make sure everyone knows what to do before severe weather strikes.

The Warrick County Emergency Management Agency and the Warrick County Health Department are proud to partner together to help keep our community informed and prepared during severe weather and other emergencies.

🌩️ NOAA Weather Radios are available FREE of charge to Warrick County residents while supplies last!

📍 Pick up your weather radio at either:
• Warrick County Emergency Management Agency
• Warrick County Health Department
(located in the Old Courthouse in downtown Boonville)

🕗 Office Hours: Monday – Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

🔊 We also have specialized accessories available for individuals who are hearing impaired or visually impaired to ensure everyone has access to life-saving emergency alerts.

Distribution Requirements:
✅ Must be a Warrick County resident
✅ Must present a valid photo ID
✅ Must sign the distribution sign-in sheet for recordkeeping purposes
✅ One weather radio per household

NOAA Weather Radios provide 24/7 alerts for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flash floods, winter storms, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies that may affect our community.
