Hello! We are currently seeking a nutritionist or other qualified professional who has experience working with children with developmental disabilities, including autism, to provide an educational session for parents and caregivers.

We would especially like the session to address topics such as ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), picky or selective eating, food aversions, sensory-related eating challenges, and other feeding or nutrition concerns that may be more common among children with developmental disabilities.

Our goal is to offer parents and caregivers an informative and supportive session where they can learn more about these challenges, gain practical strategies for mealtimes and nutrition, and better understand when additional professional support may be beneficial.

If you or someone you know has expertise in this area and would be interested in speaking with our families, we would love to connect!

đź’™ Interested in Becoming an Autism Friendly Business? đź’™

What if a few simple changes could help more individuals and families feel comfortable, understood, and welcomed in our local businesses?

The Autism Friendly Business initiative helps businesses learn practical ways to better serve individuals with autism and other sensory, communication, or developmental needs. Becoming autism friendly isn’t about completely changing the way you do business—it’s about increasing awareness, providing staff with helpful knowledge and tools, and creating a more welcoming experience for people of all abilities.

For Boonville and our surrounding communities, this could make a meaningful difference. Families shouldn’t have to travel to larger cities just to find places where they feel understood and supported. Imagine having restaurants, shops, salons, recreation opportunities, offices, and other local businesses where families know they’ll be welcomed with patience and understanding.

Becoming an Autism Friendly Business can help our community:

đź’™ Give employees a better understanding of autism and how they can help customers feel comfortable.
đź’™ Create more inclusive and welcoming experiences for individuals and families.
đź’™ Help local businesses confidently serve a wider range of customers.
đź’™ Show families that they belong right here in our community.
đź’™ Build a stronger culture of inclusion throughout Boonville and the surrounding towns.

Cooper County Board of Sheltered Services (CCBSS) is interested in hearing from local businesses that would like to learn more about becoming an Autism Friendly Business.

Whether you own a restaurant, retail store, salon, professional office, entertainment venue, or another local business, we’d love to hear from you!

Interested? Comment below, send us a message, or tag a local business that you think would be a great fit! đź’™

Together, we can help make Boonville and our surrounding communities places where all abilities are welcomed, understood, and included.
