Help us make a difference along the Ohio River by joining your friends and neighbors for a morning of community service at the Town of Newburgh River Sweep!

The first Civil War Experience Unit Study for this school year, available in October, includes four weekly sessions of activities and lessons from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
Cost is $25 per student for all 4 sessions:
October 6, 13, 20, and 27 (Tuesdays)
Parents and smaller children are asked to stay and observe via tv monitor in the downstairs room.

This unique, hands-on series is designed especially for homeschool students, offering an immersive journey into one of the most pivotal eras in American history.
Students will have the opportunity to experience what life was like during the mid-1800’s and the Civil War through interactive demonstrations and engaging educational activities that bring the past to life.
From meeting historical interpreters to exploring artifacts and stories of the era, the Civil War Experience offers an unforgettable learning opportunity that blends history, culture, and education in a way textbooks simply can’t.
Hosted at the historic Lyles Station Schoolhouse—the last remaining African American settlement in Indiana—the event also highlights the important role of African American history during this time. It’s more than a field trip—it’s a journey into the past that inspires learning in the present.

Today our Regent, Miranda Kolley, and First Vice Regent, Lisa Alexander, volunteered for the dedication ceremony of the 1700 plus bricks placed at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in Downtown Indianapolis. Each brick represents one MIA. Warrick County has seven heroes still missing in action from WWII.

Our chapter researched and found relatives of each service member.

In 1916, Indiana turned one hundred years old, and the state didn't even have an official flag to celebrate with. 🔥

The Daughters of the American Revolution sponsored a statewide design contest to fix that, and the winning entry came from Paul Hadley, an artist from Mooresville. His design put a gold torch at the center of a blue field, its rays reaching outward to represent liberty and enlightenment, surrounded by nineteen gold stars. Thirteen stars circle the outside for the original states, five more arc below them for the next five states admitted to the Union, and one larger star sits above the torch's flame, standing alone for Indiana itself as the nineteenth state to join. The 1917 General Assembly formally adopted it as part of the centennial celebration, and in 1955 lawmakers officially renamed it from a "banner" to a "flag" and locked in its exact proportions.

Over a century later, that same torch and those same nineteen stars still fly outside every state building in Indiana, a design born from one artist's contest entry during the state's hundredth birthday party. ⭐
