We will be highlighting the businesses that received grants from the Boonton Neighborhood Preservation Program to give Boonton Main Street a boost of color and confidence through renovations!

The Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) is a state-run initiative, most notably in New Jersey, that provides funding, technical assistance, and strategic planning support to help revitalize and preserve the character of local neighborhoods. It’s designed to uplift downtowns and residential areas by focusing on economic development, housing, quality of life, and community engagement.

The Edison lights you see donning our alleyways are thanks to Neighborhood Preservation Program!

Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they also provide safety and assurance to our residents, current and future, while maintaining the historic charm of our business district.

What snow? After a light Sunday night snowfall thanks to The Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) the sidewalks were shoveled and salted at day break. One of the many niceties offered by NPP for our historic business district. ❄️

The Planter Program

Boonton Main Street's Design Team has for many years now provided additional planters to Main Street in strategic locations. We were fortunate this year to work with external vendors to continue this program and beautify our district. We'll be looking forward to working in tandem with the design team and additional volunteers in the future to continue this multi-season effort.

Storefronts are highly visible components of any Neighborhood Preservation Program’s historic yet eclectic streetscape, with a mix of architectural styles and treatments. Variety adds value and is the key to making a business more noticeable and exciting. While some uniformity may be helpful in reducing overall construction costs, business owners are encouraged to imaginatively explore the relationship of their type of business (i.e. restaurant, bookstore, office, flower shop, etc.) and how that typically translates into a unique storefront treatment within a business district.
