Saturday was a great day to welcome New Way and their 100 new jobs to Prentiss County. I am proud to have assisted the Board of Supervisors in working on this project and seeing it through to completion. This is what happens when we put Prentiss County first and pull in the same direction. This project was the result of partnerships. First and foremost, I want to thank New Way for believing in the hardworking people of Prentiss County, we won't let them down. I also want to thank Glenn McCullough, Jr. and the Mississippi Development Authority, Leon Hays and Susan Lambert at the Prentiss County Development Association, the City of Booneville, Ronny Rowland and the Prentiss County Electric Power Association, Sharon Gardner and the staff at the Northeast Mississippi Planning and Development District, Nadara Cole at Northeast Mississippi Community College Workforce Development, and the Tennessee Valley Authority for all of their hard work to make this a reality.

I was interviewed this morning by WTVA's Wayne Hereford about a grant the Board of Supervisors received to cleanup illegal dump sites in the county. Thanks to a great working relationship with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, Prentiss County was awarded approximately $14,000 to clean up these dump sites. Thanks to the landfill employees and the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department for their hard work in keeping Prentiss County beautiful.

Speaking at the annual Marietta Day fish fry has always been an honor for me. I can remember climbing those stairs and playing in the springs as a child. I had a great time visiting with lots of friends and family. I even got my niece to take a picture with me. Thanks to the Lions Club for a great day and a good fish plate.

Today I joined representatives from TVA, Prentiss County Electric Power Association, and Prentiss County Development Association to present a $2,500 contribution to the Prentiss County Vo-Tech. I am thankful to TVA for this contribution that will be used to replace an air compressor that services all of the divisions. Northeast Mississippi would not be what it is today without the Tennessee Valley Authority. They literally brought us out of the darkness and showed this region the light. I am very appreciative of Prentiss County's relationship with TVA and look forward to continuing to build on that relationship.
