Last weekend was very busy for the CBWS crew.

On Friday evening, a forest fire occurred near the Betty Bowman water tank. The local Fire Department responded quickly and worked to contain the fire until the Kentucky Division of Forestry arrived on scene.

At the same time, excavation work being performed by a property owner on Highway 11 resulted in a water main being struck. The individual performing the work contacted the County Judge to report the issue. CBWS telemetry systems had already detected a drop in tank levels and pressure, and customer calls regarding the outage began before staff were officially notified.

CBWS crews responded immediately and worked into the night to complete the necessary repairs and restore service.

On Saturday, additional excavation activity led to another line break approximately 100–300 yards from the previous location. CBWS again detected the issue through telemetry and customer reports. Crews arrived on site, shut off valves, assessed the situation, retrieved the necessary equipment, and returned to complete repairs.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: PLEASE CALL BEFORE YOU DIG.

Unauthorized digging around water infrastructure can result in service interruptions and significant repair costs. CBWS cannot absorb expenses associated with overtime, equipment use, materials, and water loss. These costs will be billed to the responsible parties.

CBWS remains committed to working with contractors and property owners to help prevent service disruptions and ensure reliable water service for all customers.
