Know Your Flood Risk, Protect Your Property

The Town of Boones Mill encourages residents, property owners, and businesses to stay informed about local flood risks by reviewing FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and related flood study information.

Understanding your property's flood risk can help you make informed decisions about flood insurance, emergency preparedness, and future planning. Flooding can occur anywhere, and being prepared is one of the best ways to protect your family and investment. FEMA flood maps are an important tool for identifying areas at higher risk of flooding.

As part of the Town's ongoing commitment to resilience and infrastructure planning, Boones Mill has also completed a Flood Mitigation and Drainage Study to help identify flooding concerns, improve stormwater management, and support future mitigation projects.

Maggodee Creek Collective will be at the Apple Festival next weekend with two T-shirts, the new Historic Boones Mill book, and a raffle for a handmade wavy American flag.
Proceeds will help support their efforts to restore the historic Boones Mill Depot.

Where exactly is Carter Park?
We’ve seen a few questions about the location of Carter Park, where the Apple Smash Concert will be held, so we made you a map!
Carter Park is located in downtown Boones Mill on the property between Carter Bank & Trust and Maggodee Creek.
The park is still in the early stages of development, so if you’ve been wondering, “Where is Carter Park?!” you’re not alone. 😂

Carter Park is part of the Town’s larger downtown revitalization plans and will eventually include a playground, pavilion, walking trail, greenspace, parking and more.

Good morning, Boones Mill! ☀️

We’re starting this Monday with a little front page news! Boones Mill made the front page of The Roanoke Times this morning with a story about the next phase of downtown revitalization.

After more than a year of planning, work is expected to begin early next year and will include improvements to several historic downtown buildings, along with sidewalks, landscaping, street lamps, and additional parking while keeping the historic character of downtown intact.
