The We-Go-Round feature at Bondurant City Park Playground is temporarily closed due to damage to the play surface surrounding the equipment.

Until the surface has been repaired and fully inspected, we ask everyone to please respect the closure and stay off the affected area.

We know this is a favorite spot for many little adventurers, and we appreciate your patience as we work to make sure it is safe and ready for tiny feet once again. 💙

Thank you for helping us keep our parks safe for everyone!

Your lawn called... it wants its clippings back. ✂️

Grass clippings belong on your lawn or in your compost pile, not in the street. Grass clippings can clog storm drains and contribute to water quality issues when they wash into local waterways.

This summer:
🌱 Sweep clippings back onto the lawn
🌱 Compost what you don't need
🌱 Keep storm drains clear

Bonus stormwater tip: When fertilizing your lawn, choose phosphorus-free products unless a soil test shows you need phosphorus. Excess nutrients can wash into storm drains and contribute to algae growth in local waterways.

🎣 A big THANK YOU to everyone who joined us Friday evening for our annual Fishing Derby!

It was a fantastic night at Lake Petocka, with kids reeling in plenty of fish and making great memories along the way.

We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Bondurant-Farrar FFA students for volunteering their time and helping make the event a success. We appreciate the Iowa Department of Natural Resources for their assistance and sponsorship, which helped make this community tradition possible.

A special thank you goes to the Bondurant Men's Club and Midstates Precast Products for their sponsorship and continued support of community events like this. Partnerships like these help us create opportunities for families to connect, learn, and have fun right here in Bondurant.

Thanks again to everyone who participated. We can't wait to see you at next year's derby! 🎣🐟

💦 Splash Pad Update 💦

The City Park Splash Pad will remain open today, June 9, until 5 p.m. The Splash Pad will then reopen Wednesday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m. Regular operating hours will continue to be 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

We've received questions about how the current lawn watering restrictions affect the splash pad. When the splash pad was designed, the City invested in a recirculating water system. This means the water that flows into the drains is collected, treated, and reused through the spray features rather than being continuously supplied with new water.

Because the splash pad operates using this recirculating system, it is not drawing new water from Des Moines Water Works for normal operation. As a result, the current lawn watering restrictions do not affect the splash pad's ability to remain open. If for some reason that changes, we will make a public update.

We appreciate everyone's cooperation with the watering restrictions and hope families can continue to enjoy the splash pad during these warm summer days!
