🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥
"Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower."
October 4-10 is Fire Prevention Week, and this year we're focusing on something found in nearly every home: rechargeable lithium-ion batteries.
Phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, toys, e-bikes, scooters, and many other devices rely on these batteries. When a battery is damaged, improperly charged, or paired with the wrong charger, it can overheat, catch fire, or even explode.
🔋 CHARGE SMART. CHARGE SAFE.
Use the charging cord and equipment recommended by the manufacturer.
Charge devices on a hard, flat surface. Keep them off beds, couches, pillows, and other materials that can burn.
Keep charging devices away from exits and escape routes.
Stop using a battery if you notice excessive heat, swelling, leaking, an unusual odor, or a change in shape.
Unplug devices once they are fully charged.
Never ignore a damaged battery.
Fire prevention starts before the tones drop. Take a few minutes this week to look around your home, garage, and workplace. Pay attention to what you are charging, where you are charging it, and what equipment you are using.
Safe charging is a simple habit that can prevent a serious fire.
