Message from Denny:

Last day of school?! I’m driving us straight into summer! 🐾🚌 😎

Okay… apparently I’m not allowed to actually drive the bus (something about needing opposable thumbs and a license 🤷‍♂️).

I just wanted to wish all of my student friends, teachers, and school staff a happy last day of school! Congratulations on another great year. Enjoy your summer, stay safe, and don’t forget to stop by and say hi if you see me around town!

🚴‍♂️ E-Bikes in Massachusetts: What You Need to Know

We’ve received a lot of questions about e-bikes recently, so here are a few quick facts:

✅ E-bikes are bicycles with fully operable pedals and an electric motor that assists the rider.

✅ Massachusetts recognizes Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes:
• Class 1 – Pedal-assist only, up to 20 mph
• Class 2 – Pedal-assist or throttle-assisted, up to 20 mph

✅ No driver’s license, registration, or insurance is required for Class 1 or Class 2 e-bikes.

⚠️ E-bikes that exceed the Class 1 or Class 2 speed or power limits may be considered a Motorized Bicycle under Massachusetts law. Motorized bicycles are subject to additional requirements, including registration, licensing, and helmet use.

✅ E-bike riders must follow the same rules of the road as traditional bicycles.

✅ E-bikes are generally allowed on roads, bike lanes, and many shared-use paths.

🚫 E-bikes are not permitted on sidewalks.

🪖 Riders age 16 and under are required to wear a helmet. We strongly encourage riders of all ages to wear one every time they ride.

Whether you’re riding for fun, exercise, or transportation, ride responsibly, stay alert, obey traffic laws, and share the road safely with others.

Officer Fahlbeck and Officer Perez recently spent some time playing pickleball with a few local kids for some fun and friendly competition 🏓

We always enjoy opportunities to spend time with members of our community outside of our regular duties, and this was no exception.

As for their pickleball skills… our officers brought plenty of enthusiasm and earned a solid A for effort. 😄

As of 5:15pm- Golden Run Road is back open.

As if 11am- Long Hill Road is back open. Golden Run will be closed while crews are working to clear the road.

Update: Golden Run Road is also closed. Photo in comments. We will continue to update this post.

The area of 39 Long Hill Road is closed due to a tree on the power lines. National Grid is responding. We will update when the road is back open.

Quick safety tips:
⚡ Never touch or drive over downed power lines
🌳 Stay away from trees or branches touching wires
🚧 Treat all downed wires as if they are live
📞 Report hazards to Nashoba Valley Regional Emergency Communications Center at 978-772-1900
