We join with members of the Glens Falls Firefighters Union in praying for the veteran firefighter who fell from a truck while answering the call last night and suffered a head injury. Police tell me this morning that she is in critical condition at Albany Med.

The Officers and Members regretfully share with you the passing of life member and Past Chief James “Jim” White. Jim was a cornerstone of our organization for 45 years, a leader, a mentor and friend. Jim’s dedication and friendship will never be forgotten by us at BVFC. Our deepest condolences go out to Melitta, Scott, Deb and their families. Rest easy Jim, you have earned it. RIP #37

It’s with an extremely heavy heart as we share the sudden loss of our brother Stephen Baker. For 27 years Steve put the helmet on and jumped on the rigs helping to serve and protect the people of Bolton Landing and Warren County with a smile on his face and never seeking thanks. If there was ever something that needed to be fixed or found he was your guy and above all else if you called he was there. From being a firefighter to an assistant chief his leadership was always felt throughout the station and among the crew and will continue to be so as we all continue the job just as he would.

Our love and support goes to the Baker family, Steve’s wife Kelly Baker his daughter Michaela and his son who also follows his father’s steps proudly as a firefighter Josh Baker and son Shawn Thompson. Steve always would talk of how proud he was of both of you. Sister in law Laura Baker and his nephews Marcus and Jonathan Baker. Mom Kathy baker, Sister Lucinda Baker and her children Matthew and Kaitlyn Burke.

Our thoughts are with Asst Chief Jeremy C**n at the loss of his dear friend and partner Ozzy. Ozzy served faithfully along side Officer C**n as a Member of the Warren County Sheriffs Office K-9 unit being involved in life saving searches, countless arrests, and most importantly having Jeremy’s back. Rest in Peace Ozzy shield #040

As some of the locals have seen or smelled there is a large brush fire in the Sullivan and Ulster County areas that has quickly spread. It’s said the smoke from the fire will eventually cover the warren county area by the end of the day. We will try to provide any updates we can when can but for now stay warm and make sure your windows are shut tight to keep the smell out!
