In 2012 she was hired by the Honorable Ola M. Lewis to serve as the Brunswick County Trial Court Coordinator, where she was responsible for the administration of all civil superior matters, including trial calendars, judge assignments, and the mediation settlement conference program. Katie entered private practice in 2014 with the Law of Office of Richard F. Green in Holden Beach, where over the c
ourse of seven years, she enjoyed a diverse practice. Katie was general counsel for the municipalities of Holden Beach, Boiling Spring Lakes, and Varnamtown. Katie assisted in the representation of the Brunswick County School Board. Katie was one of our local attorneys appointed in matters exclusively heard by the Clerk of Court, serving as a Guardian Ad Litem attorney in incompetency proceedings and as a real estate commissioner in partition matters. She has administered numerous estates and has practiced foreclosure defense, the same of which is heard before the Clerk of Court. Katie thoroughly enjoyed her role as one of the two defense attorneys for the Brunswick County Treatment Courts, where she represented hundreds of our citizens, assisting in their rehabilitation and addiction recovery. She has represented numerous individuals, including juveniles, in both district and superior court in matters ranging from felony offenses to traffic infractions. In December of 2021, she transitioned to her current role as an Assistant District Attorney, where she represents the citizens of Brunswick, Bladen, and Columbus Counties. Katie is a lifelong Republican and has been an Oak Island resident since 2012, where she resides with her husband, Trey Martin, who is an attorney located in Southport. In her free time, Katie is usually outside, either traveling, reading, or spending time on our wonderful Brunswick County beaches and waterways. Katie graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2008 and later from the Appalachian School of Law in 2012. Katie grew up spending time each summer in Holden Beach and knew at a young age she would eventually call Brunswick County home.
