Country Days is this Saturday, Sept. 12. We can't wait!

The City of Bolivar will shut down the square to vehicle traffic beginning Friday evening, Sept. 11, with additional streets closed through Saturday evening. Streets impacted will include

βœ… South Springfield Avenue
βœ… South Main Avenue
βœ… East Jackson Street
βœ… East Jefferson Street

Broadway Street on the north side of the square will stay open.

Please use caution as you drive around town on Saturday. We'll have a lot of extra traffic and visitors!

A Heat Advisory is in effect for most of the area until 7 pm today. Heat index values of 100 to 110 will occur in these areas, with values closer to 100 elsewhere. Stay cool and hydrated!

TRAFFIC ALERT: Our Streets Department will be out working at the intersection of West Aldrich Road and South Hedgewood Drive today, Wednesday, Sept. 9.

We expect road closures at the intersection until Thursday morning, Sept. 10.

Please avoid the area if you can and use caution if you must travel through this area.

Unfortunately, we'll experience extreme heat this week.

We're expecting daily highs in the middle to upper 90s, with a few locations around 100.

Maximum heat index values will be around 100 to 105. We'll have minimal overnight relief with lows in the middle to upper 70s.

The US National Weather Service Springfield Missouri has issued a Heat Advisory for Bolivar for Monday, Aug. 31, and an Extreme Heat Watch for Tuesday, Sept. 1, through Friday, Sept. 4.

Daily heat indices will climb above 100 degrees. Those sensitive to the heat will need to take the proper precautions to stay safe this week.

No rainfall is expected this week.

ATTENTION: West Broadway Street, or Mo. 32, will be closed to traffic at the N. Oakland Ave. intersection from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.

City crews will be working on a drainage area on the north side of the intersection.

Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes that morning. Please use caution and follow detours if you do travel through this area.

Even police officers and firefighters responding to an emergency take the time to STOP when they see a school bus in the street with its stop signs activated and lights flashing.
