9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14: We’re having some problems with our phone system, so calls are not coming in to our locations.

Come take on the Bolivar City Fire Department's Junior Firefighter Challenge at Country Days!

Country Days is this Saturday, Sept. 12. We can't wait!

The City of Bolivar will shut down the square to vehicle traffic beginning Friday evening, Sept. 11, with additional streets closed through Saturday evening. Streets impacted will include

✅ South Springfield Avenue
✅ South Main Avenue
✅ East Jackson Street
✅ East Jefferson Street

Broadway Street on the north side of the square will stay open.

Please use caution as you drive around town on Saturday. We'll have a lot of extra traffic and visitors!

We'll meet in front of the Public Safety Center at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11.

TRAFFIC ALERT: Our Streets Department will be out working at the intersection of West Aldrich Road and South Hedgewood Drive today, Wednesday, Sept. 9.

We expect road closures at the intersection until Thursday morning, Sept. 10.

Please avoid the area if you can and use caution if you must travel through this area.

WE'RE HIRING!

The Bolivar City Fire Department is currently taking applications for a full-time firefighter position.

BCFD works 48/96 shifts. Starting pay is $47,000+, including scheduled overtime, with full certification. Employee health insurance premiums are fully covered.

Minimum qualifications include Firefighter I & Firefighter II certifications, and state certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. First Responder certification is preferred but not required. EMT certification required within one year of hire date.

Bolivar City Hall and the administrative offices at the Public Safety Center are closed to the public today, Monday, Sept. 7, in observance of Labor Day.

This closure does not impact emergency services. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

Our administrative offices will return to normal business hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

The Bolivar City Fire Department has issued a burn ban for Bolivar effective today, Friday, Sept. 4, until further notice.

Open burning of any kind is not permitted within Bolivar city limits during this time.

The Polk County Commission has also issued a burn ban for the entire county.
