WE'RE HIRING!

The Bolivar City Fire Department is currently taking applications for a full-time firefighter position.

BCFD works 48/96 shifts. Starting pay is $47,000+, including scheduled overtime, with full certification. Employee health insurance premiums are fully covered.

Minimum qualifications include Firefighter I & Firefighter II certifications, and state certifications must be obtained within 90 days of hire date. First Responder certification is preferred but not required. EMT certification required within one year of hire date.

GREAT NEWS! South Pike Avenue is open for business!

The area is now filled with gravel, which will compact over the next few weeks. Then, we'll come back and patch the street with fresh asphalt.

Thanks for your patience while we made the initial repairs!

SOUTH PIKE AVENUE UPDATE: City crews are continuing to work on South Pike Avenue at the intersection of West Aldrich Road.

The southbound lane of South Pike will be open to traffic this evening, Tuesday, June 2, with barricades blocking the northbound lanes.

South Pike will be closed to all traffic again tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3, when crews return to resume repairs to the street. Drivers can continue to use South Lillian Avenue as a detour.

Thanks for your patience and caution as you drive through the area!

UPDATE 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 1

Our crews are continuing to work on a storm drain issue under South Pike Avenue at the intersection of West Aldrich Road.

South Pike Avenue, on the south side of the Southwest Baptist University campus, will remain closed until at least Tuesday, June 2.

Drivers may use South Lillian Avenue as a detour. Please use caution as you travel through the intersection on West Aldrich Road.

We’ll let you know when South Pike Avenue will again be open to traffic.

These heroes are all about community. Our firefighters are just a phone call away when we need them most, ready to help in all kinds of emergencies.

You can also see them out educating the community, helping at events, and working with local businesses and organizations.
