CCDC supports historic preservation by working with developers and partner agencies to restore and reimagine historic elements across Boise. These collaborations help protect the character of our city while giving new life to important places and stories.

A great example is Neon Grove, where six historic neon signs were carefully restored and installed along Grove Street, bringing Boise’s visual history back in the community in a brilliant way.

Urban renewal plays a key role in shaping the future of our city, and that future is strongest when it’s built with respect for the past.

Through our Participation Program, CCDC partnered with AZEK Company to support the transformation of a former Shopko site into a new industrial manufacturing and distribution facility in Boise’s Gateway East Urban Renewal District. This project reflects shared goals to diversify and grow Boise’s economy while advancing climate action and quality job creation.

The 347,000 square foot facility is on approximately 50 acres, bringing new industrial life to a key employment area in the city.

Public-private investments like this strengthen the infrastructure that helps Boise’s industrial economy grow and thrive by improving essential systems like power distribution and street lighting.

North 8th Street is now a safer, more connected corridor designed for everyone, especially kids traveling to and from school. 🚸

New improvements include raised and protected bike lanes in both directions 🚲, a bike signal at State Street, and two new signalized pedestrian crossings at Washington Street and Franklin Street.

The corridor also features curb extensions, new street trees, and a safer, more comfortable bus stop, along with underground upgrades that expand Boise’s geothermal network.

Through CCDC's Rebuild 8th Street project, these improvements strengthen the connection between the neighborhood and downtown Boise’s urban core.

🚲 Downtown Boise protected bike routes supporting smoother commutes include:
