Attention EUL.

The contracting company is opting not to pave today and will plan on completing the two intersections for Phase 1 on Tuesday, 08 September and mark the taxiway Tuesday evening. Then move into Phase 2 on Wednesday.

Phase 1 area will be closed through September 8 and opened on Wednesday September 9 with Phase 2 also closing on September 9. Current plan is to have Phase 2 complete on October 1.

They are planning to hold their Phase 2 Milling Day next week (Thursday) 10 September 2026.

During the phase 2 closure there will be temporary pavement placed on the east and west side of the Midfield Aviation fuel station to allow users access just south of Charlie during the schedule work period.

REMEMBER THIS? The Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance is trying to take away 10 public land Utah backcountry airstrips... even though all are on non-wilderness lands.

Earlier this summer, the Bureau of Land Management approved the formal designation of ten long-established backcountry airstrips in southeastern Utah. Following an appeal by the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, the BLM withdrew that decision and is now reconsidering it through a revised environmental review and a new public-comment period.

Once again, the backcountry aviation community needs to make its voice heard.

These are not new airstrips. Most were originally constructed for mining activity and have been used periodically by recreational pilots for as many as 70 years. They provide low-impact access to remote public lands, support recreation and emergency response, and preserve an important part of the history of the American West.

The revised proposal includes sensible protections for wildlife, seasonal operating restrictions, tightly limited maintenance, and BLM supervision of work performed by the Utah Back Country Pilots Association and The Recreational Aviation Foundation. Responsible aviation access and conservation can—and should—coexist.

Please submit a comment supporting the designation and continued public use of Big Flat, Playa, Potato Ridge, Spring Canyon, Steer Ridge, Castle Creek, Nokai Dome, Piute Canyon, Red Canyon, and Wee Hope.

Comments must be submitted by the end of the day Thursday, September 3, 2026. Please write in your own words and explain why preserving responsible aviation access to public lands matters to you. Individual, thoughtful comments are far more effective than copied form letters.

We’re replacing the U.S. 20/26 bridge at the Parma Interchange (Exit 26).

The bridge was badly damaged when it was struck Aug. 4 and will remain closed until the new bridge is built. We know the closure and detour are frustrating, so we’re moving the replacement forward as quickly as possible.

We’re also working on temporary traffic signals near Exit 25 to help traffic move more smoothly during the closure. We’ll share updates as plans come together.
