Snow conditions be D! #$ed it was a great last avalanche and companion rescue class of the season in Pine!

Elmore County Search and Rescue, EMS, and hills deputies never disappoint. 3 miles of dirt on the groomed trail made for some interesting heating problems but we all made it and had a great time sharpening our companion rescue skills.

Mitch was one switch away from finding Lucas's patrol vehicle lights.

What happens when you go out for an area assessment with Brian to make sure the groomed route will work for the groomer manufacturers that are coming to Stanley this week.

He brings a chainsaw and makes you work!

Getting the trails ready for our groomer workshop.

Looking forward to spending the week with Tucker SnowCat, Peterson Equipment (PB), and Prinoth to see what's new in the snow grooming world.

Low snow and high downfall seem to have hit almost every grooming program in the state... Be kind to your grooming programs and if you have some extra time, offer a helping hand... Everyone, be safe!

Due to low snow, warm weather and large trees blocking almost all trails we are cancelling our Jan 18-2026 event. Please still support the local businesses and hopefully we get some snow!

We had an excellent first full class of the season over the weekend with lots of learning and some great views. Big thanks to Sandpoint Marine & Motorsports for hosting our awareness presentation on Friday and to the Area 9B Grooming Program for providing us with fresh corduroy on Saturday during our rescue clinic!

There are several North Idaho classes still available this season. Preregister at https://reced.idaho.gov/

We didn't have a ton of snow in the Whoop Um Up parking lot today but all the students that came to class gave it heck and we had a great avalanche companion rescue training session. Thanks to the 8A grooming program for making the parking lot usable and Kody Shay I appreciate the help!
