Our community has been rocked by the loss of a child, struck and killed by a motorist on Harrison Boulevard yesterday afternoon. My heart breaks for the family grieving the tragic and senseless loss of their young daughter. There are no words for a loss like this, and my deepest condolences go out to them in this unimaginable time. I’m grateful to our first responders for their quick and compassionate work, and offer appreciation to the neighbors and community members who sprung into action. The trauma caused by these incidents is profound and far-reaching.

ACHD was on site this morning assessing the area, and will continue to lead alongside the City of Boise in the rigorous process to review tragic crashes and seek opportunities to improve our street safety.

Every person who uses our streets deserves to arrive home safely each day, especially our precious children. While nothing can undo this tragedy, I will continue working closely with every willing partner at every level to find and implement solutions that can help prevent tragedies like this. We owe it to every family, every child, every person in this community to ensure our streets are safe for everyone, especially our most vulnerable.

I’m so appreciative of President Pickering’s thoughtful leadership as we navigated this nuanced and complex decision and worked to address the rash of crashes resulting in serious injury and death.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to answer the community’s call for much-needed improvements on this unique section of State Street that prioritize safety for everyone.

“This is one of the deadliest years on our roads in Ada County history, and it has to stop,” one local official said.

Alexis’s leadership has been instrumental in creating better partnerships with cities, being more responsive to community needs, and prioritizing safety for all Ada County residents. It’s so important we keep this momentum going and re-elect Alexis Pickering for ACHD on November 5th.

We want to hear from you! ACHD is designing safety improvements on State Street between 8th Street and 14th Street in downtown Boise.

ACHD is working with the City of Boise, Capital City Development Corporation, and Valley Regional Transit to develop a concept design to perform essential pavement maintenance and improve safety along State Street. The project will improve how State Street works for all people using it, as well as improve safety for people using and crossing State Street.

Learn more about the concepts and take the survey: https://engage.achdidaho.org/state-8-14

While comments are always welcome, this survey will close May 23.

HB 637 is a blatant attempt to undermine election outcomes and undo the good work this Commission has accomplished with the community's support. I'm proud to stand with my fellow Commissioners in opposition of this needless and unprecedented attack on our electoral process.

We, your duly elected board of the Ada County Highway District, stand in strong opposition to HB637, as it actively denies the will of the voters and threatens the foundation

I was honored to be a guest bell ringer at the Boise Farmers Market in its second week of the season. BFM is one of many treasured community organizations to choose from for Idaho Gives. Check out idahogives.org and support local nonprofits this week!

Opening bell rings at 9am in spring-like, with guest bell ringer ACHD Commissioner Miranda Gold. “The Boise Farmers Market is a vital piece of our local food community. It brings folks together in a unique way and creates relationships with local farmers, producers and makers while supporting a shared ethic of sustainability and environmental stewardship. I’m thrilled to volunteer and support another season of the Market.” Ding! You said it ! See you at the Market. 🥕

Today was a big day. I was officially sworn in as ACHD Commissioner for District 3!

It was thrilling to take the oath of office this morning and deeply humbling to see so many people close to me, people close to the work, and people who dedicate their time and talents to our community in attendance.

Thank you so very much to Commissioner Alexis Pickering for giving me the honor of swearing me in. It’s been a privilege to serve with and be supported and mentored by so many dedicated public servants, including Representative Chris Mathias, former Commissioner Diana Lachiondo, former Councilmember Kenny Pittman, Councilmember Jimmy Hallyburton, and Commissioners Jim Hansen, Kent Goldthorpe and Pickering — to name a few.

Thank you to Director Wong and ACHD staff for organizing today’s events and facilitating a smooth transition process.

Thank you to my incredibly talented and hard-working campaign team and the many volunteers and community members who extended their time, energy, and support. It has been a true honor to share this journey with you.

An extra huge thank-you to my family: my husband Daniel and my two sons for inspiring, encouraging, and supporting me in this work (and posing for many, many photos today).

I would also like to recognize and thank Commissioner May for her service on the Commission over the last four years.

I’m incredibly humbled to represent my district and serve all the residents of Ada County. I’m excited about the work ahead, and I will carry the many conversations I’ve had and will continue to have with you as we face the challenges to come.

I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve our community again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
