Ep. 3 NOW AVAILABLE🎧

In honor of World Trade Month, this episode of Beyond Barley takes a closer look at the role international trade plays in supporting Idaho barley growers and the broader U.S. barley industry. 🌾🤝

We sat down with Ellen Zimmerman, Director of Industry Relations for the U.S. Grains and BioProducts Council, for a practical and approachable conversation focused on “Trade 101” for agriculture.

Together, we discuss why export markets matter, how global demand impacts growers here at home, and the importance of building long-term relationships with international customers. The conversation also explores how partnerships between organizations like the Idaho Barley Commission and the U.S. Grains & BioProducts Council help create opportunities for Idaho barley around the world.

Whether you’re deeply familiar with agricultural trade or just curious how Idaho barley connects to global markets, this episode offers insight into the people, partnerships, and programs helping support the future of the industry.

With 75% of Idaho’s water supply coming from mountain snowpack, programs like cloud seeding play a role in supporting increased snow accumulation which directly benefit agriculture, communities, fisheries, industry, and recreation across the state.

We appreciate conversations and data that help highlight the tools being used to strengthen Idaho’s water resiliency. 💧
