The Cemetery Gates are open to visitors daily from 8:00 AM to Sunset; including weekends and holidays. The office is closed on weekends and state holidays. The Stars & Stripes flies in silent vigil 24 hours a day on a magnificent hilltop overlooking the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery. Set against a backdrop of native grasses, green hills and the rugged Boise Foothills, the 76.5

acre cemetery offers a peaceful place of solitude and beauty for friends and family members of those laid to rest here. The Idaho State Veterans Cemetery - Boise is located on 76.5 acres adjacent to the Dry Creek Cemetery. The site is just north of Hill Road and east of Horseshoe Bend Road in NW Boise. The land on which it is built includes approximately 40 acres donated in 2002 by the J.L Terteling Company, with the remaining acreage being purchased from the Dry Creek Cemetery District. The Cemetery was made possible by a grant from the Veterans Administration, State Cemetery Grants Program which funded 100 percent of the design, construction and equipment costs associated with developing the facility. It was dedicated to the State of Idaho in 2004 by then-Governor Dirk Kempthorne.

Families of veterans who are laid to rest in our cemetery are eligible to receive a Presidential Memorial Certificate. This is an engraved paper certificate, bearing the current President’s signature, honoring the veteran’s service to the nation.
The Presidential Memorial Certificate is issued and mailed directly to the family by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Please note that this certificate is not prepared or sent by our office, and delivery timeframes are determined by the federal government. Our office marks the box for processing while we order the grave marker.

We would like to inform the community that an improved handrail installation in our Scatter Garden walkway will take place next week (February 23rd–27th) at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery.

During this time, there may be construction equipment, temporary barriers, and crews working in the area. We kindly ask all visitors to please use caution, follow any posted signage, and pardon our construction as we work to enhance safety and accessibility within the Scatter Garden walkway.

This is one of several improvement projects planned for the cemetery in the coming months. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue enhancing the grounds for our veterans and their families.
