Serve Idaho A division of the IDAHO DEPARTMENT OF LABOR. We Encourage Volunteerism and Community Service Our mission is to encourage volunteerism and community service.

Serve Idaho is the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism. Serve Idaho accomplishes its mission through promoting volunteerism specifically volunteerism as a pathway to employment, and also through the administration of the AmeriCorps state grants in Idaho. AmeriCorps is often referred to as a “domestic Peace Corps”, allowing members to serve their community and in exchange receive a living stipend and education award.

"A memorable experience was with a 10-year old boy, who hovered around my telescope the whole event. He asked me so many questions about space, and I described these objects without using the scientific jargon that I've become so accustomed to," Leah Rogers who serves at the Idaho Dark Sky Reserve said. "I was happy I was able to show him the universe with telescopes I didn't have at his age."
