🌞 ATTENTION GREENBELT USERS 🌞
Great news! The Barber Park Greenbelt Pathway project has been completed ahead of schedule, under budget, and is now open to the public just in time for this sunny weekend!
This improvement included milling and replacing 3,200 linear feet of old, cracked asphalt with a wider, safer, and smoother pathway with fresh centerline striping. We’ve also added two new concrete connections linking the Greenbelt directly to the Barber Park Playground for easier access.
Thank you for your patience during construction. We’re excited for everyone to get out and enjoy the upgraded pathway!

MONDAY, APRIL 13TH TRAIL CONDITION REPORT:

Unless you have been locked in a windowless room over the weekend, you probably don't need to read this report to know that trails in the Boise Foothills are saturated and will be highly prone to damage from any type of use today - and likely throughout the week, as more rain is expected.

At 7 a.m. we are approaching an inch of rain over the past 24 hours. This has left even the surface of our all-weather trails soft, so these too should be avoided today. Please use the Boise River Greenbelt or one of our (very) green parks for your outdoor recreation experience today - and don't forget your rain jacket!

NOTES:
Due to the wet weather, the US Forest Service has postponed the daily Bogus Basin Road and Eastside area trail closures that were scheduled to begin on today. These closures are now scheduled to begin on April 27 – and last until June 19th as planned.

Sheep will be moving through the Foothills beginning next weekend. Please give them time to move off the trail if you encounter them. Cyclists, it is best to dismount and walk your bike until you have passed a band of sheep. They will move away readily and this will keep their guard dogs from feeling like you are a threat to them.

Have you ever wondered about the “waterways” side of Ada County Parks & Waterways?

Ada County Parks & Waterways keeps recreation running smoothly at Lucky Peak Lake by managing more than 100 dock strings across 16 popular sites, along with four convenient boat launch ramps. These dock strings are typically configured in strings of three to five sections, creating flexible and accessible layouts for a variety of recreational uses.

Behind the scenes, maintaining these docks is a year-round effort designed to keep them safe, durable, and ready for public use. Each season, dock sections are removed from the water on a rotational basis and enter a detailed cycle of inspection and improvement. This work includes modifying and strengthening connections, welding additional supports, installing new tabs, repainting, and reconnecting dock sections. Crews also replace decking boards as needed to ensure a solid and reliable surface.

Boat ramp docks receive additional attention and are adjusted with more joints to better accommodate heavier traffic and frequent use. Once refinished, all dock sections are reinstalled in time for peak recreation season, providing dependable access for boaters, anglers, and outdoor enthusiasts.

This ongoing process reflects Ada County’s commitment to maintaining high-quality facilities and enhancing the overall experience at Lucky Peak Dam and Lake - WallaWallaUSACE, providing diverse outdoor recreation for everyone.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH TRAIL CONDITION REPORT:

Today's trail report is a fairly simple one. The Foothills received a half-inch of water yesterday - primarily in the form of rain, but in the form of snow and rain at higher elevations. Rain also fell early this morning.

This means that low and mid-elevation trails are saturated and extremely prone to damage today and likely for the next several days.

Still want to get out and stretch your legs? We don't blame you - yesterday was a lot of indoor time for most of us! If so, here are your options for exercising without damaging Foothills Trails:

The Boise Greenbelt
All-weather Trails https://ridgetorivers.org/trail-guide/trail-etiquette/wet-weather-and-winter-trail-use/
8th Street Road
Mountain Cove Road
Rocky Canyon Road
Upper elevation trails (Stack Rock Trail and above - they will be snow covered)

Thanks for checking today's report and please help us to pass this messaging along!
