Last week, our UTV Team joined forces with our UAS (drone) Team for search and rescue training near Kuna Butte.

Roleplayers on dirt bikes simulated being lost in the desert while UTV deputies and drone operators worked together to locate them — combining ground and air resources in a real-world scenario.

Our UTV Team is a collateral duty, meaning deputies apply and are selected to serve on the team in addition to their regular assignments. The team is primarily used in search and rescue operations in remote areas, along with foothill patrols.

On September 3, 2026, at about 7:55 p.m., an Ada County Sheriff's Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on a green Honda Crosstour in the area of W. Overland Rd. and S. Latah St. in Boise. The vehicle failed to yield, and a short pursuit ensued west on W. Overland Rd., briefly north on S. Orchard Rd., turned around west again on W. Overland Rd., then north on S. Curtis Rd., before ending at an apartment complex in the 500 block of S. Curtis Rd.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, 39-year-old Dario Murcia Garcia, was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on {F} Fleeing & Eluding, as well as an active felony warrant for Revocation of Bail - Violations of Conditions of Release.

On Friday, we celebrated with four of our Misdemeanor Probation Officers as they graduated from the Idaho POST Academy.

Congratulations to Shane Peterson, Josh Cutri, Ryleigh Smith, and Anthony Clark on completing the academy and reaching this milestone in their careers.

Our Misdemeanor Probation Officers work with individuals on court-ordered probation to help ensure compliance, provide accountability, and connect them with resources that can help them successfully complete probation.

We look forward to seeing them put their training to work!

On August 28, 2026, at approximately 10am, a fisherman on the Snake River called Ada County Dispatch to report finding a deceased person in the water. The Ada County Sheriff's Office Dive Team was dispatched to the area and recovered the individual at 11:45am.

The individual has been identified as the man who went missing in the river earlier this week. No foul play is suspected. His identity may be released by the Ada County Coroner's Office at a later time, pending notification of next of kin.

We extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Today, Sheriff Clifford, Chief Deputy Hessing, and Eagle Police Chief Ruby joined the Ada County Victim Services Center in celebrating 20 years of serving our community!

Over the past two decades, the ACVSC has helped countless victims and has been a consistent and trusted partner to law enforcement throughout Ada County.

We’re grateful for the compassion, care, and support their team provides to people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

We're hiring an Alternative Sentencing Technician (known internally as a Law Enforcement Records Technician, or a 'LERT') to join our team. This position works directly with individuals participating in court-ordered programs, processes legal documentation, maintains accurate records, and helps coordinate the day-to-day operations of Alternative Sentencing.

The ideal candidate can stay organized, adapt as priorities change, and has strong communication skills to effectively work with a variety of people.

This is a dayshift position with weekends and holidays off, plus the option to work four 10 hour shifts each week.

UPDATE (8/24/26 @ 8:46pm): Crews used a boat and sonar, drones, and divers to search the Snake River downstream of Swan Falls Dam throughout the day in an effort to locate the missing man from last night's incident. Despite these efforts, we were unable to locate him.

Due to fast moving current conditions in the area, search efforts were ended earlier this evening.

The man's identity is not being released at this time.

We would like to thank the Canyon County Sheriff's Office for their assistance.

ORIGINAL POST:

On August 23, 2026, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Ada County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of a water rescue at Swan Falls Dam in Kuna. Initial reports indicate an adult male fell into the water and did not resurface.

Crews searched the area on foot, by boat, by drone, and by air (Life Flight).

Search efforts have transitioned from a rescue to a recovery operation. Due to conditions and visibility, search efforts have been suspended for the night and will resume tomorrow.

We will provide updates as more information becomes available.
