📢 Upcoming Prescribed Burns in the Clear Creek Area – Fall 2025
👨‍🚒 Shared by the U.S. Forest Service and CCVFD
Hi neighbors! We wanted to pass along information just received from the U.S. Forest Service regarding prescribed fire plans in our area this fall. With fire season planning already underway, these controlled burns are an important part of keeping our forests and community safe by reducing hazardous fuels.
🔺 Broadcast Burn (Johnson Fork Unit 1)
Area: ~141 acres
Location: Behind the mailboxes near Grimes Creek
Timing: One day of active ignition, followed by a few days of lingering smoke
Target Window: Mid-October to Mid-November (weather dependent)
Current Status: Crews are already on-site prepping containment lines.
🔥 Pile Burns
Johnson Fork (261A Road): ~300 acres, north of last year’s burns
Sheep Creek (Clear Creek Summit, 261 & 261C Roads): ~450 acres
Timing: As soon as there's snow on the ground
Duration: Will take multiple days between the two areas, based on daily weather and smoke dispersal conditions
