Medal of Honor recipient and Boise resident Art Jackson passed away on this day in 2017 at the age of 92. For those of us who knew Art, we found it very appropriate that he would forever be remembered in conjunction with Flag Day. Art loved our Flag and the ideals and principles for which it stands.

The video link below is Art Jackson recounting the incident in 1944 on the Island of Peleliu which earned him the nation's highest military honor. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yJNH6TPZ_Y

Today is Flag Day!
On June 14, 1916, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed this day a time to honor our nation’s flag. Each year, Americans proudly display the Red, White, and Blue—at homes, businesses, and public spaces—as a symbol of unity, resilience, and the freedoms we hold dear. Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our official flag and reminds us of the ideals it represents.
