Evaluating Combat Readiness
📍 MARINE AIR GROUND TASK FORCE TRAINING COMMAND AND MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CENTER TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2023)
Senior leaders from our 4th Marine Division recently met with their counterparts from 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion prior to the latter's Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation.
The MCCRE is a mandatory assessment led by Operating Force Commanders to gauge a unit's skill in core and specialized tasks. Aimed at standardizing quality and confirming combat readiness, it is vital before deployment and overseen by commanding generals. The evaluation follows Marine Corps Training and Readiness standards and is crucial for confirming a unit's mission capability.
Marines from Company C, 4th LAR Battalion, will soon be deploying to Japan in support of Unit Deployment Program 24.1 and the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
The visit also had a nostalgic element, as it reunited Brig. Gen. Douglas K. Clark, commanding general of the 4th Marine Division and 1st Sgt. Trung Q. Tran, senior enlisted leader of Company C, 4th LAR Battalion, who had previously served together approximately two decades ago as part of the 4th LAR Battalion.
