The Greenbelt is one of our community’s most treasured spaces — a place where walkers, runners, and cyclists commute across town, spend time with friends and family, and enjoy the beauty of the Boise River. I'm here today with my fellow mayors and commissioners from the Treasure Valley Partnership because we all want to create public spaces that are safe, accessible, and enjoyable for everyone.

The Grove Street Pathway provides a safe pedestrian alternative to Front Street, linking Broadway and Warm Springs Avenue to downtown. A truly collaborative effort in partnership with CCDC, St. Luke’s, Idaho Power and the Boise City Canal company, this path represents what’s possible when our agencies work together to make opportunities come to fruition.

The Boise Sunrise Rotary cares deeply for our community, and it is clear in the work that they do. The club welcomed me to their weekly meeting - it was great to hear about their accomplishments and upcoming service projects. We discussed bikes, accessory dwelling units, schools and more together.

The Boise Bench Lions Club has made a significant difference in the lives of local residents by offering essential programs such as providing eyeglasses, conducting hearing and vision screenings for children, assisting and feeding those experiencing homelessness, and delivering other crucial services that enhance the well-being of individuals and families in our community. It was an honor to join in the club's celebration of 75 years!

Last Friday, we honored 25 years since voters approved Boise’s first Foothills Levy. I met with two dear friends, Rachel and Deb, to reflect on the work we did alongside other volunteers in 2001. We played in the foothills then, have since, and look forward to enjoying them for many more years to come!

You can learn more about levy purchases and projects over the last 25 years here: https://www.cityofboise.org/.../open-space/open-space-levy/
