Early Voting is open for the June 9 Primaries!
Plan to vote and speak to friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to encourage them to vote as well!
Details are below and here are some things you can do:

If you bought “VOTE!” car flags, it’s time to fly them.

Forward this email to people you know.

Take a look at billboards around town - many of the electronic ones include our encouragement to vote in the primaries.

Thanks to those of you who were willing and able to help fund the cost of them. You are making a difference for our community!

Study your ballot on Vote411.org.

Every candidate is listed and all have been invited to share about themselves in their own, unedited words.

If some of your candidates haven’t responded, please encourage them to do so. We can help them with any issues - [email protected].

Make your voting plan - complete with:

Who you want to represent you for each office on your ballot

When you plan to vote

Where you will go to vote

How you will get there

Who you will invite to go with you

Don’t forget to take your photo ID with you.

If you need one, the Board of Elections in the County Administration building will create one for you at no charge. If you’re already registered to vote, just provide your date of birth and the last four digits of your Social Security Number. Then, have your photo taken. Full details link

You can also go to the DMV for one.

LWV Charleston Area Newsletter | November 2025

This newsletter is briefer than usual but it punches above the weight of its word count! Our theme this month is 'MAKING A DIFFERENCE' through advocacy and action.

LWV Charleston Joins LWVUS Federal Lawsuit Against Ban on Nonpartisan Voter Registration Work

On November 18, the League of Women Voters US filed a lawsuit against the federal government because of anti-voter actions. LWV Charleston Area is proud to take this stand as co-plaintiffs alongside LWV Colorado, LWV New Jersey, LWV Milwaukee, and LWV Saratoga County.

We are suing the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, the US Department of Homeland Security, and other federal officials for enacting — without following the required process — a new rule that bars nonpartisan civic engagement groups from providing voter registration and civic engagement at administrative naturalization ceremonies.

Registering newly naturalized citizens at USCIS ceremonies is a core and cherished part of LWV Charleston's mission to enable voters to have a voice in our democracy. We have been actively involved in this work since at least 2003. This year alone, before this rule banned our participation, our Voter Services volunteer team, led by co-Director Judy Manning, attended 128 USCIS administrative ceremonies to welcome and register 1,280 new citizens residing in South Carolina and Georgia.
