Happy National Beach Day! Few places compare to the beauty of Long Island's south shore, home to some of the best beaches around, including Fire Island, Robert Moses, Gilgo Beach, and Oak Beach. There is still plenty of summer left to soak up the sun, so tell us your favorite local beach or share a photo from your visit!

Today marks 106 years since the adoption of the 19th Amendment, when the right of women to fully participate in American democracy was finally recognized. On Women's Equality Day, we celebrate this hard-won milestone and honor the generations of women whose courage and determination continue to shape our nation.

Right here in our district, that history lives on. In Sayville, a plaque on South Main Street recognizes the Sayville Suffrage Club, and another at the Gillette House honors Sayville's own Ida Gillette, a businesswoman, philanthropist, and tireless advocate whose efforts helped secure the women's vote both locally and nationally. Her legacy is a powerful reminder that every voice matters and every vote can make history.

A new school year is about to begin, and we all have a part to play in keeping our students safe. Remember to stop for school buses, slow down in school zones, and stay alert for children walking and biking to school.

Wishing all the students, teachers, and families across our district a happy and successful school year ahead! For more on school bus safety, visit:

National Park Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the breathtaking landscapes, historic sites, and natural wonders that make our National Park System so special. Whether you're visiting a nearby national park or exploring the great outdoors close to home, I encourage everyone to take time to enjoy and appreciate these treasured places.

It is unacceptable that in a record-setting $277 billion budget, our r**e crisis centers, domestic violence centers, and child advocacy centers are facing devastating funding cuts. I am calling on Governor Hochul to restore this critical funding and establish a stable, reliable funding stream for the centers that protect our most vulnerable New Yorkers.
