Today the members of Company 3 placed this new reserve engine in service to use for a few months until our engine is repaired. Back in June, Engine 3 sustained major damage after a drunk driver crashed into the apparatus responding to a call. Thank you to our Chiefs and Boro officials for purchasing this ex-Madison NJ engine for us to get back in service. Also thanks to

On June 16, 2023, at approximately 12:45 am, Engine 3 was responding to an activated carbon monoxide alarm and was involved in a motor vehicle crash.

While responding to the alarm, another vehicle driven by an adult female, entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign on Dunn Avenue, causing our Engine to strike the vehicle. The engine then went off the roadway and struck a vehicle in a residential driveway, pushing it into a house.

After an investigation, the driver was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and given several motor vehicle summonses. The Blood Alcohol Content was recorded at almost twice the legal limit.

Thankfully no one was injured during this event. Please remember to get a designated driver or use a service to get to and from your events if consuming alcohol. Your actions have more of an impact than you think. We are now down an engine in the borough and thankfully, it was not a working fire we were responding to.

We thank the Bogota Police Department handling the crash investigation and arrest of the driver.

Repost From “At 5:15 this morning, The Bogota Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial building on East Fort Lee Road for a reported boiler fire.
Ladder 1 & Engine 1 arrived on scene and found the boiler room to a large building on fire.
Engine 1 stretched a 1 3/4 line due to accessibility issues & maneuverability to extinguish the fire.
2 frozen hydrants forced Engine 3 to drop 800 feet of LDH which ended up becoming a secondary water supply due to the heads up thinking of an Engine 3 member successfully thawing the closest hydrant with a road flare. Aggressive Engine Company work with Ladder 1 cutting the roof above saved a local business from total destruction.
No injuries were reported. Companies operated on scene for just under 2 hours.”

Tonight members of Engine Co. 3 took a ride to The Atwater Complex on West Fort Lee Rd. to refresh on standpipe operations and conduct familiarization of the complex. This was our first drill of 2022, with many more planned for the year. The company will be focusing hard on training this year to be able to provide the best service for our residents.
