The Boerne Citizens Fire Academy has officially kicked off!

Over the next nine weeks, Boerne and Kendall County residents will get a firsthand look at what it takes to be a firefighter, how the Boerne Fire Department responds to emergencies, and the important role our firefighters play in serving and protecting our community.

It’s an opportunity to learn, experience, and better understand the people behind the badge and the work they do every day for Boerne.

PATRIOT DAY: Today, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and the lives lost in the years since.

We honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who ran toward danger, and the men and women who continue to serve and defend our country.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

This week, Mayor Ritchie officially proclaimed September as National Service Dog Month. We were joined by some very special four-legged guests who reminded us just how important service dogs are to the people they serve.

Service dogs are more than companions. They provide life-changing support to individuals with disabilities by helping with mobility, alerting to medical conditions, guiding the visually impaired, and offering comfort during stressful moments. Their dedication, training, and unconditional loyalty make everyday life more accessible, independent, and safe for countless people.

We are grateful to celebrate these remarkable animals and the organizations that train them.

STAGE 2 WATER RESTRICTIONS: That means NO WATERING on the weekends – so check your sprinkler settings and make sure it is set to water an appropriate amount on the correct day. As temperatures really start to heat up, we will start to notice some "summer blonde" on our yards - and that is OK.

Under Stage 2 Water Restrictions, residential and commercial utility customers are required to limit the use of water for landscape irrigation. These rules also apply to reclaimed water customers.

Customers are permitted to use individual sprinklers or sprinkler systems for lawns, gardens, or other landscaped areas on ONE DAY PER WEEK as assigned.

o Watering is only allowed from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on your designated day.
o Watering by hand with a hose or bucket allowed any time.
Designated watering days are assigned according to the last number of the street address. If your address ends in:
o 0 or 1: Water on Monday
o 2 or 3: Water on Tuesday
o 4 or 5: Water on Wednesday
o 6 or 7: Water on Thursday
o 8 or 9: Water on Friday

What a ride, Boerne Little League!

Our community lined the streets to send these boys off to the Little League World Series, and we were just as proud to line Main Street again to welcome them home.

On one of the biggest stages in youth sports, these players represented Boerne with heart, sportsmanship and plenty of Texas-sized determination. They gave our community a summer we won’t soon forget.

From the cheers at the sendoff to the roar that welcomed them home, take a look back at an unforgettable journey through some of our favorite photos and views from above.
