Some brief takeaways from last night's District meeting on 6/8/26:
• Stage 3 decision maintained for the county.
• Rainfall this month ahead thru early July is expected to range from 1 to 3 inches in total across the county.
• Low-end DO to D1 meteorological drought to persist.
• Palmer Hydrological Drought Index (PHDI) showing moderate drought to persist.
• ENSO Neutral conditions currently observed with El Nino expected by August 2026.

After this Monday afternoon and evening, rainfall chances go away for the remainder of the work week and weekend ahead as surface high pressure settles in. Also, dew point temperatures and surface moisture will be high allowing for the heat index values to climb as our afternoon high temperatures reach into the 90s. So, we are now returning to a more typical type of Summer weather pattern as our Spring rainfalls come to an end replaced by less frequent rainfall events. This also translates to our current low-end drought conditions will likely persist since no major rainfall events are currently expected any time soon.

A weather system with moisture does return to the area next Monday, but rainfall amounts look to be on the low end around 0.25 of an inch. Attached below is a graphic of what a possible rainfall amount could be for Kendall County.

Be safe, have a great rest of the work week ahead. Expect another weather forecast update this coming Friday so that rainfall chances and amounts for our next event can be refined.

Moisture has returned to the Texas Hill Country region. Each afternoon and evening through next Tuesday, at least, scattered hit or miss showers and thunderstorms are expected across Kendall County. Due to the hit or miss nature associated with this early Summer weather pattern, not all areas of the county will experience equal rainfall totals. Additionally, the atmosphere is loaded with moisture, and heavy rainfall is expected at times in and near Kendall County and surrounding locations.

Flash flooding and severe weather can not be ruled out so stay tuned into your favorite weather vendors to receive updated weather forecasts and any weather alerts that become necessary through this weekend into early next week. By next Tuesday morning, widespread rainfall totals across the county could range from 0.5 of an inch to 1.50 inches with isolated higher amounts certainly possible. Refer to the graphic below.

Dry and warm weather is expected this weekend into early next week. Each morning though may have some fog, and each afternoon surface ozone concentrations look to be on the high side. Molds are also high right now due to the recent rainfalls we have experienced. Drought impacts continue to improve and lessen in intensity.

Moisture returns to the Texas Hill Country on Monday. There is a slight chance for a very little amount of rainfall Monday afternoon and evening. Rainfall chances remain in place for the rest of the work week. By Friday morning next week, rainfall totals could range from 0.25 of an inch to 0.75 of an inch across Kendall County. Right now, it does not appear that flash flooding is a concern, but we can't rule out some isolated severe weather. See graphic below for potential rainfall amounts into Friday morning next week.

Not this weekend, but next weekend looks quite interesting. Tropical moisture from the Gulf could significantly intensify bringing the potential of heavy rainfall with it. BUT that's far out in time so let's not get too excited about what the models are suggesting and instead keep our eyes on the tropics. Could we have an early season tropical wave hit us?

In the meantime, be safe, have a great weekend and next week ahead. Look for an updated weather forecast around the Tuesday or Wednesday time frame unless changes warrant an earlier update.

Here is the current status as of May 18, 2026. Currently neutral conditions but very very close to a transition to El Nino as it continues to develop quickly.

This past long holiday weekend Kendall County missed out on some of the heaviest rainfall in the Texas Hill Country, but more rainfall is on the way.

Next best chance for more rainfall will be later this afternoon through Wednesday afternoon this week. Models are not in good agreement with rainfall amounts so trending back is necessary with a range from 0.25 of an inch to 0.75 of an inch is most reasonable across the county by Wednesday evening. However, the atmosphere will be very unstable and loaded with moisture so we can't rule out higher amounts, and there is a risk for heavy rainfall leading to potential dangerous flashing flooding once again. Stay tuned into your favorite local weather vendor. Refer to the rainfall prediction graphic attached below.

Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday look dry. Then rain chances increase Saturday night and continue into the early portion of next week.

Expect a weather forecast update this Friday to address this weekend's potential rainfall amounts.

Are you all getting tired of the rainfall yet? More rainfall is on its way. Actually, potential flash flooding and severe weather chances have increased for this holiday weekend.

Let's keep things simple and to the point. Expect periods of scattered hit or miss showers and thunderstorms this entire holiday weekend. There is a high chance for widespread totals of one to three inches of rainfall across Kendall County. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch. See graphic below of potential rainfall totals.

Warm, muggy and wet weather continues through most of next week. Additional rainfalls could lead to more flash flooding as well as severe weather across our county. It is too far out in time to guess what amounts could occur, but models are suggesting another one to three inches.

Nighttime flash flooding is extremely dangerous so stay tuned into your favorite local weather vendors, weather apps on your mobile devices and weather warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
