📢 SIFC Update Regarding California Budget Discussions Circulating
We are aware that there has been information circulating regarding potential budget reductions within California and CDCR.

At this time, please know that these potential budget cuts are not expected to impact visiting programs or family visitation services.

The Statewide Incarcerated Family Council (SIFC) is actively communicating with Headquarters regarding any developments and will continue to provide updates as information becomes available through official channels.

If you receive information from your institution indicating that programs, services, or activities are being reduced or eliminated due to budget concerns, please contact your assigned Statewide IFC Representative as soon as possible. This allows us to gather accurate information, seek clarification when necessary, and ensure concerns are addressed appropriately.

As always, we appreciate your partnership and commitment to keeping families informed.

Thank you,
Statewide Incarcerated Family Council (SIFC)

RP EWII-To every family who has found strength in a phone call, a message, or just knowing your loved one is okay this one is for you.

We are collecting family letters of support for SB 498 (Keep Families Connected 2.0). This bill would expand communication access for incarcerated people and their families giving us more time to connect, more affordability, and more ways to stay close no matter the distance.

We believe families make a difference. And the California Legislature needs to hear from you.

Signing takes just 2 minutes. Fill out our short Google Form and your name will be included on a letter delivered to the Assembly Public Safety Committee.

Please share this with anyone who loves someone on the inside. Every name is a family standing up and saying: we are still here.

Letter of Support Writing Workshop on May 6 at 6 pm

UnCommon Law’s last Community Circle created a thoughtful and engaging space for connection and sharing experiences navigating the parole process and supporting loved ones. We are grateful to everyone who participated, and we look forward to building on that in our next and final workshop, which will take place on May 6 from 6:00–7:30 p.m.

We will be hosting a Letter of Support Writing Workshop, where you’ll receive a brief overview of letters of support and their different types. You’ll also have the opportunity to work in small groups to draft a letter, receive feedback, and ask our team any questions you may have. CDCR has shared an update regarding messaging charges through Securus Technologies:
We recently identified a problem with how e-messages were being charged in Securus.
Because of this issue, some users were charged more than they should have been when sending messages. The problem has now been fixed, and messages are being charged at the correct rate moving forward.
