Cemetery Cleanup Volunteer Request 🇺🇸

The City of Blunt is looking for volunteers to help with cemetery cleanup at Pleasant Hill Cemetery prior to Memorial Day.

We will begin Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. As it looks like we may get a break from the rain, we’re hoping to finish getting the cemetery cleaned up and looking its best for families leaving memorials for loved ones. If we do not finish Wednesday, we will continue Thursday, stopping work around noon for a funeral service.

Most of the spring cleanup work has already been completed, but after all the recent rain we could still use help with:
• Mowing
• Trimming and w**d eating
• Blowing grass and leaves off monuments and graves

If bringing a mower, please park trailers along the perimeter to help avoid damaging the grass or leaving ruts.

Each year we ask for volunteers during this busy time as we work around weather and try to ensure the entire cemetery is freshly mowed and ready for Memorial Day. Whether you can help for an hour or the whole day, your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for helping keep Pleasant Hill a beautiful final resting place for our loved ones. ❤️

Grass, Weeds, and Property Maintenance Ordinance. Reminder to residents to keep those yards mowed!

Section 5-3. Nuisances

Types of Nuisances

Q. Failure to Maintain Lawn. Maintaining a lawn in such a manner that grass and/or w**ds are permitted to grow more than eight (8”) inches in height.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to each resident and property owner within the City of Blunt, South Dakota, that all premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from w**ds, grass or other plant growth in excess of eight inches (8”). Weeds, grasses and other plant growth shall include all grasses, annual plants and vegetation other than trees, shrubs or cultivated flowers and gardens. All noxious w**ds shall be prohibited.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that each resident of the City of Blunt is hereby notified that each failure or refusal to mow the exterior premises of their property in accordance with city ordinance and the Property Maintenance Code shall result in the City issuing a notice of violation to correct the deficiency. Failure to correct the deficiency within ten (10) days of the date of the notice will result in the City having the property mowed either by city crews or by contract, the cost of which will be billed to the property owner. Only one notice per year will be issued, repeat violation will result in abatement. Any accumulation of unpaid bills will be accessed to the property.

📢 Gym Key Fob Renewal Reminder 📢

It’s time to renew your gym key fob access! 🚶‍♀️‍➡️🏀 To continue uninterrupted entry to the gym, please complete your renewal by Friday, May 15, 2026. Renewal fee is $25. Payments can be mailed (PO Box 127) or dropped off in the drop box in the south lobby. Call 962-6262 if you have any questions. If you would like to sign up for gym access, there are forms are also available in the lobby.
