UPDATE: Deputy Jon Samuelson is in critical condition at a hospital in South Bend, after being shot three times, according to Indiana State Police officials. He’s a 12-year veteran of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s office, a K9 handler, and is part of a family of service in our area.

His grandfather is a former Chief of police for LaPorte and his father was an officer with Michigan City police dept., who’s now working security at the hospital where his son was shot.
