The Fourteenth Circuit Solicitor's Office is the chief prosecuting agency for Allendale, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties. Covering 3,200 square-miles of South Carolina's Lowcountry, we are the only five-county circuit in the state, encompassing 10 percent of the state's landmass. Our primary role is to prosecute all cases in General Sessions Court and Family Court as well as certai

n misdemeanors in Magistrate's Court. Each year, we prosecute approximately 5,500 cases. Additionally, our office operates a number of prevention programs designed to stop individuals, and in particular our youth, from engaging in criminal activity and other unhealthy behaviors. The programs include treatment-based courts, pre-trial intervention, worthless check, alcohol education, traffic education and juvenile arbitration. The office is led by the Solicitor, who is elected every four years. Solicitor Duffie Stone was appointed by the Governor in 2006. He was re-elected in 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020.

ICYMI:🚨 Port Royal man sentenced to 35 years in prison 🚨

Shykeim Raykawan Wright of Port Royal has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for a series of violent crimes, including two armed robberies on Ribaut Road and an attack on a corrections officer.

During one of the robberies at a Parker’s gas station, Wright shot a clerk multiple times. Two days earlier, he robbed a Dollar General, pointing a gun at two clerks and stealing cash before fleeing to Savannah, where he was later arrested.

Wright pleaded guilty to eight felony charges connected to four separate incidents. Seven charges received the maximum sentence and will run concurrently, with an additional five‑year weapons charge running consecutively.

“This sentence underscores the gravity of the defendant’s ongoing and violent actions,” said prosecutor Samantha Molina of the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office. “This outcome helps protect our community.” ⚖️

Special thanks to officers and deputies with Town of Port Royal Police Department, Beaufort Police Department, Beaufort, SC and the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Today, our team at the 14th Circuit Solicitor’s Office proudly joined millions around the world in recognizing Denim Day. 💙👖

Observed on the last Wednesday of April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Denim Day is a powerful reminder that clothing is never an excuse — and that victim-blaming has no place in our justice system.

We stand with survivors, support accountability, and remain committed to seeking justice with compassion and integrity.

It’s heartbreaking to see this case return to the headlines, forcing Jillian Angner’s family to endure the pain of their loss all over again.

At the same time, it’s worth remembering that post-conviction relief appeals are rarely successful — and one reason for that is the care we take on the front end. As prosecutors, the 14th Circuit Solicitor's Office not only argues the state's interests; we honor our ethical obligation to consider the defendant's rights, as well. By doing so, we ensure just outcomes withstand later scrutiny.

That same diligence is why this defendant received a life sentence, even after pleading guilty at mid-trial. It is hardly surprising that after sitting in a cell for a little while, he decided prison is not where he'd like to spend the rest of his life. But he's not supposed to like it. He's supposed to reflect upon the acts he committed that landed him there and the irreparable harm he has done to many others.

Meanwhile, our sympathies are with the family as this process continues.

The man is serving a life sentence for the ambush shooting of his ex-girlfriend Jillian Angner as she drove her 6-year-old to school.

⚖️ A Michigan man has been sentenced to prison after a Beaufort County jury convicted him of brutally assaulting his ex-wife while the couple was vacationing on Hilton Head Island with their young son.

💔 This case is a powerful reminder of how quickly domestic violence can escalate — and how critical it is for survivors to seek help. We are grateful to the jury for delivering justice and to law enforcement and to those who supported the survivor every step of the way.
