Celebrating Freedom House! 🎉

We were thrilled to celebrate the transformation of the Freedom House backyard with the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce and the community partners who helped make it possible!

With confetti poppers, smiles, and plenty of excitement, we celebrated a space that is now ready for families to play, relax, gather, and enjoy time together

We are so grateful to Earthworks Landscape Construction for bringing their time, talents, materials, and generosity to this project.

And a special thank you to the Greater Bluffton Chamber of Commerce for helping us celebrate this incredible community effort and for supporting the businesses and organizations working to make a difference in the Lowcountry.

This backyard is more than a renovation. It's a place where families can make memories while building their next chapter.

A backyard isn't complete without a place for kids to play! We are incredibly grateful to CS Thomas Construction for donating a shed, patio furniture, and sports equipment for the families at Freedom House - including basketball hoops, soccer nets, and pickleball equipment.

Working alongside Earthworks Landscape Construction, CS Thomas Construction helped create a space where children can play, families can spend time together, and everyone can enjoy being outdoors. ❤️

A HUGE thank you to Earthworks!

When looked at the backyard at Freedom House, they saw more than an outdoor space. They saw an opportunity to create something beautiful, welcoming, and meaningful for the families who stay here.

Through their incredible partnership, Earthworks donated materials, design expertise, time, and hard work to completely transform the backyard into a space where families can play, relax, gather, and enjoy the outdoors together.

For a family navigating the uncertainty of homelessness, having a safe and welcoming place to spend time together matters. A basketball game. Sitting outside together. Watching the kids play. Taking a breath.

We are incredibly grateful for their generosity, vision, and commitment to the families of Freedom House.

Tonight, along with so many, we’re remembering Dolly Parton - and one of the things we love most about her had nothing to do with a stage. 💛

Dolly understood something we believe deeply at Family Promise:

You don’t have to be a child’s parent to help shape their future.

Through decades of generosity - and especially through her extraordinary commitment to childhood literacy - she invested in children she would never meet, simply because she believed they deserved the opportunity to learn, imagine, and dream. Her Imagination Library grew to put books into the hands of millions of children around the world, including many Family Promise kids.

Dolly’s efforts feel very familiar around here.

Every week, we watch volunteers prepare meals for someone else’s children. Donors invest in their futures. Churches create places for them to play. Community partners help their parents overcome barriers. And countless people decide that the wellbeing of children they may never know personally is still worth showing up for.

Because children don’t grow up in isolation.

They grow up surrounded by all of us.

Dolly showed us all what can happen when someone takes their gifts, their resources, their influence - and uses them to make the world a little better for the children coming behind them.

What a beautiful legacy to leave.

Thank you, Dolly, for loving generations of children so well. We’ll keep doing our part, too. 💛
