Tomorrow is the day, National Night Out 2026!! We're looking forward to seeing everyone at this great community event! Come say hi to your local First Responders and enjoy a family friendly evening! Swimming will be available all day, and the NNO event will will run from 6p-9p with the Chamber of Commerce fireworks at 9:30pm. Tune in to 96.1FM The Wit at 9:20pm to listen to the thank you message as we recognize all of the sponsors that make this event possible. Music will be played during the fireworks too. Sorry, we aren't fancy enough to have the music synched to the fireworks show, but once in awhile it looks like it!!

The Bluffton Police Department would like to inform motorists of a recent change to the speed limit on State Route 103. The posted speed limit has been reduced from 45 MPH to 40 MPH.

This reduction was made after careful consideration of the increased amount of non-vehicular traffic along this corridor, including pedestrians and cyclists. The goal of this change is to improve safety for everyone who uses State Route 103 while maintaining the efficient flow of traffic.

We ask all motorists to be aware of the new speed limit, watch for the updated signage, and use extra caution when traveling through the area. Even a small reduction in speed can significantly increase a driver's ability to react to unexpected hazards and help reduce the severity of crashes.

There was a blue and black women's bicycle dropped off at the town hall a couple of weeks ago by a resident that found it on his property. If you are missing a bike and feel this may be yours, and you can identify it, please contact the PD at 419-358-2961.

Public Safety Announcement: Slow Down & Move Over
Last night, one of our fire engines was struck by a semi on I‑75 while crews were operating at an emergency scene. Thankfully, no firefighters were injured — but this incident is a serious reminder of how dangerous highway responses can be.
When you see emergency lights:
• Slow Down
• Move Over into the next lane if possible
• Give responders space to work safely
These steps aren’t just courteous — they are Ohio law and they save lives. Every day, firefighters, medics, police officers, tow operators, and highway workers stand just feet away from fast‑moving traffic while helping others.
Your cooperation helps ensure we all make it home safely.

We just want to remind everyone to be weather aware this evening as there is a chance of some strong thunderstorms with wind, hail, and the possibility of tornadoes. Make sure your devices are charged, and have several ways to get warnings and alerts. As a reminder, the outdoor warning sirens are intended to be heard by people that are outside, as a warning for them to go inside and check any weather warnings and/or alerts. They are not always audible inside of buildings and vehicles. You also cannot rely on them 100% of the time as a tornado has to be observed via radar or in person first. That information is then relayed to the National Weather Service for the warning to go out by the National Weather Service and then for the sirens to be set off.
