Today, we honored Officer Christopher DeLong, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his community. It was truly a humbling experience to stand alongside so many fellow first responders as we came together to honor his life, service, and sacrifice.

We will never forget his courage, his commitment, or the sacrifice he made to protect others. Please keep Officer DeLong’s family, friends, fellow officers, and all those who loved him in your thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace, Officer DeLong. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was a pleasure celebrating with the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce at their ribbon cutting for their beautiful new office!

The Chamber does an incredible job supporting local businesses, strengthening our community, and helping build a stronger future for our entire region. I am grateful for their leadership and commitment to Beaufort County and look forward to continuing to support their efforts.

What a wonderful evening at Windmill Harbor Yacht Club!

It was great to connect with business and community leaders from throughout Beaufort County. Strengthening public safety starts with trust, communication, and strong relationships with the community members we serve.

It was also a pleasure to spend time with and hear from conservative leaders, including Senator Reichenbach, candidate for Lieutenant Governor; Councilwoman Jenny Costa Honeycutt, candidate for Congress; and Solicitor David Stumbo, candidate for Attorney General.

Building strong relationships at the local, state, and federal levels is essential to ensuring the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has the resources, partnerships, and support necessary to protect and serve all of our citizens.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Columbia Police Department, as well as the family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers mourning the loss of one of their own.

This is truly a tragic and heartbreaking day for the law enforcement community. May their family, colleagues, and loved ones find strength and comfort during this difficult time. Rest in peace, and thank you for your service.

⭐️ For those who don’t know Doug Seifert he’s been a sheriff for 20yrs serving the Beaufort county from the inside of sheriff office. He understands our neighborhoods, he shows up and prioritizes real community engagement. That matters to the community and the Latino community as well. We need a sheriff who listens, who build trust and who treats everyone with respect no matter where they come from or what language they speak.

Doug talks about being present in the community, holding listening sessions, going to events and churches, and strengthening the connection between law enforcement and the people we serve. That’s the kind of leadership our growing community needs.

Spending time with my son and his coworkers at the Pasco County Fire Department was truly a blessing. There is nothing more meaningful than watching your child choose a life of service, and I couldn't be more proud that he has continued our family's legacy as a first responder.

Being a first responder is more than a career it is a calling. Every day, these men and women put on the uniform knowing they may be called upon to help someone on the worst day of their life. They willingly make sacrifices, spend holidays away from their families, and run toward danger when others are running away.

To my son and to every firefighter, law enforcement officer, EMT, paramedic, dispatcher, and emergency responder: thank you. Your courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to serving others do not go unnoticed. Our communities are stronger and safer because of your dedication and sacrifice.

I left with a heart full of gratitude not only as a proud father, but as someone who has dedicated his own life to public service. May God continue to watch over each of you and bring you safely home after every shift.

Today, we said goodbye to one of our own.

K-9 Niko was humanely laid to rest this morning following unexpected medical complications.

K-9 Niko served the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office with unwavering loyalty, courage, and dedication. Throughout his service, he faithfully protected our community and stood beside his handler Sgt. Toomey with honor and commitment.

His loss is deeply felt by all members of the Sheriff’s Office, especially those who had the privilege to work alongside him. I am grateful for his service and lasting impact he made on the Sheriff’s office and our community.

Please keep K-9 Niko’s handler, his family, and the Sheriff’s office in your thoughts during this difficult time.

Rest easy, K-9 Niko. Thank you for your faithful service to keeping Beaufort County a safe place.
