Every year, our fire inspections take us all across the community—and while the goal is safety, it’s also one of the best parts of what we do.

We get the chance to meet some truly incredible people—business owners who take pride in their spaces, employees who keep things running smoothly, and neighbors who genuinely care about keeping everyone safe.

It’s also a unique opportunity to step behind the scenes and see some pretty awesome things we wouldn’t normally experience—from busy kitchens and workshops to places full of creativity, innovation, and hard work.

At the end of the day, fire inspections aren’t just about codes and checklists—they’re about building relationships, sharing knowledge, and working together to keep our community safe.

We appreciate everyone who welcomes us in and works alongside us each year. You’re a big part of what makes this community so special.

That’s a wrap on this school year!

We had such a great time helping local schools across the city celebrate the end of the year with our annual water spray—and what a blast it was! Seeing the kids laugh and cool off is something our crews look forward to every single year.

Huge thanks to all the schools that welcomed us—we love being part of these end-of-year celebrations!

Wishing everyone a fun, safe, and well-deserved summer!

Wwe were lucky enough to welcome a local preschool to our station! Both the morning and afternoon classes had the opportunity to come by and see firsthand what we do each day.
During their visit, the kids got a behind-the-scenes look at station life—where our crews live, eat, sleep, and spend their downtime. They were excited to explore the station, meet our firefighters, and learn a little about how we help keep our community safe.
We always enjoy visits like these and love the chance to connect with our community—especially with the next generation!

Wildfire Safety Starts at Home

Protect your home, your family, and your community by taking simple steps today:

✅ Create defensible space around your home (0–200 ft) by clearing debris, trimming trees, and spacing vegetation

✅ Harden your home with fire-resistant materials, clean gutters, and covered vents

✅ Stay prepared with an evacuation plan and a ready-to-go emergency kit

✅ Act early—don’t wait if evacuation is recommended

Most homes are lost from flying embers, not the flames—small actions can make a big difference.

Be prepared. Be aware. Act early.

Wednesday, May 27, we had the privilege of celebrating an important milestone within our department. Three of our Lieutenants—one of whom was unable to attend—were officially sworn in as Captains during City Council meeting.

This recognition reflects their dedication, leadership, and commitment to service. It was especially meaningful to have their families present for the occasion, as they were given the honor of placing the Captain pins on their loved ones.

Please join us in congratulating our newly promoted Captains on this well-earned achievement. We are proud of their accomplishments and look forward to their continued leadership within our organization.

Wildfires aren’t just a summer concern—they can happen in winter too. Cold temperatures do not eliminate fire risk, especially during dry periods with wind and dormant vegetation.

Why Winter Wildfires Happen:
• Dry grass, leaves, and brush can still ignite—even under snow free conditions
• Windy winter days can quickly spread fires
• Outdoor activities such as debris burning, equipment use, or warming fires can create ignition sources

How to Reduce Winter Wildfire Risk:
• Use caution with any outdoor burning and check current restrictions
• Never leave fires unattended—fully extinguish all ashes
• Avoid parking vehicles or equipment on dry grass
• Secure trailer chains and use spark arrestors where required

Even during cooler months, fire behavior can be unpredictable, and winter fires can spread rapidly when conditions are right.

Wildfire awareness is a year round responsibility. Stay alert, use caution, and help keep our community safe.
