🚧 Traffic Notice: GHS Home Game

The Town of Bluefield will have a traffic control plan in place around Graham High School for the G-Men home football game on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

The following streets, highlighted in red on the map, will be closed to through traffic and limited to local resident access:

• Forest Hill Dr.
• Hill St.
• E. Mountainview Ave.
• Montvale St.
• The lower/northern portion of Mountain Ln.

🅿️ No on-street parking will be permitted around the stadium. Game attendees must use the parking areas at Graham High School.

Please allow extra time, watch for signs and barricades, and follow directions from traffic control personnel. Thank you for helping keep the area safe and accessible—and go G-Men! 🏈

Last Wednesday, members had the opportunity to utilize a structure that was being remodeled to conduct multiple training evaluations.

Members were able to get reps in on search, VES, scene size-up, ladder operations, and victim removal through windows and stairwells.

Opportunities like this are what help keep us well-trained, confident, and ready.

If you have a structure that could be utilized for training by your local fire department, please reach out. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to train in real-world environments.

On Thursday, August 6, units were dispatched to the 500 block of Virginia Avenue after lightning had struck a building.

Tower 78, Engine 80, Engine 76, and Rescue 70 responded and found no active fire. While there was no fire, the lightning caused damage to parts of the building’s exterior wall, creating a hazard for anyone walking below. Crews removed the loose debris and returned to service.

Come see us at Jack Asbury Square tomorrow at 1:00 PM for a fun afternoon with the Bluefield Virginia Fire Department along with several other local agencies!

We’ll have Tower 78, Engine 80, and our Side-by-Side on display for everyone to explore. Kids and adults alike will have the chance to check out the trucks, ask questions, and learn more about the equipment we use to serve our community.

Training Night with AMKUS Rescue Tools

Wednesday evening, members of the Bluefield Virginia Fire Department had the opportunity to demo several sets of AMKUS rescue tools while reviewing the fundamentals of vehicle extrication.

We would like to thank Goins Towing for generously donating a vehicle for training and providing a meal for our members. We would also like to extend our appreciation to Bill Weese from Matheny Fire & Emergency for bringing the tools to us on short notice and helping make this training possible.

The Bluefield Virginia Fire Department greatly appreciates the continued support of our community partners and neighboring agencies. Their generosity helps us provide valuable training opportunities that enhance our ability to serve and protect the citizens of our community.
